Steps
Part 1 of 3: attach a.gif" />
Step 1. Open the message app

The icon for this app looks like a white speech bubble on a blue background. You can find it in the apps panel of your Android device.
If you don't have Android Messages, download it from the Play Store

Step 2. Press

It is a round button containing the + sign and which is located at the bottom right of your screen. By tapping on it, you will be prompted to select the recipient of the message.

Step 3. Choose a contact
If you plan to start a new conversation, tap the contact's name in your phonebook or type their name or number in the To field at the top of the screen.

Step 4. Press

Tap the round button with the + sign, located to the left of the message text field.

Step 5. Select

Touch this icon to select one of the images stored on your device.

Step 6. Tap Gallery
Tap the panel Gallery to select the.gif" />
Step 7. Select the.gif" />
Touch it to attach it to the message. It will appear in a small preview image in the text message. You should see the animation play in the preview window to see what it looks like before sending it.
- If you can't find the.gif" />☰ which is at the top left of your screen, then on Downloads in the column that will appear on the left.

Step 8. Press

Part 2 of 3: Using the Giphy app

Step 1. Open the Giphy app
The icon for this app looks like a multicolored leaf on a black background and you might find it in the apps panel of your device.
You can download it for free from the Play Store if you haven't installed it yet

Step 2. Find an available.gif" />
You might be looking for one specifically to send. Tap the tabs at the top of the screen to view GIFs by category, or use the search bar at the top of the screen to search for GIFs by name or specific keywords.

Step 3. Touch a GIF
A larger version of the file will be displayed, with sharing options below.

Step 4. Tap the text message icon
It is green and contains a square-shaped speech bubble in the third position from the left.

Step 5. Select a contact
If you want to send the.gif" />
- These options vary depending on the messaging application you are using.
- By touching the text box, you also have the possibility to add an optional message.

Step 6. Select

The icon looks like a paper airplane and is located at the bottom right. By pressing it, the.gif" />
- On some messaging apps, this button shows the word Send in place.
Part 3 of 3: Using Gboard

Step 1. Install and configure Gboard on your device
If you haven't already, install Gboard or Google Keyboard on your Android device.
You could download it from the Play Store

Step 2. Open the mail application
Then start typing a new SMS. Using your device's default messaging application, you can select an already existing conversation or press the button to enter a new message and select a recipient from the phonebook.

Step 3. Touch the input box to compose the message
On some apps, you would see Write a message (or something similar) appear in this section. If Gboard has been set as the default keyboard, it will open automatically.

Step 4. Select

The icon looks like a smiley face and is located at the bottom of the keyboard, next to the space bar.

Step 5. Tap GIF

Step 6. Review the available GIFs or find one
You could see the GIFs by touching the category tabs that appear below the animations. You can also enter a keyword in the search bar to find a specific one.

Step 7. Touch the.gif" />
Tap it to automatically add it to the message you're composing.
