You can transfer videos from your Android device to your computer to free up internal storage memory or to save your precious memories. You can email the short videos to yourself. However, for large videos, you will need to connect your Android to your computer using a USB cable or upload your files to Google Drive.
Method 1 of 3: Transfer videos to computer by email
Step 1. Tap the icon
on your phone.
Step 2. Select Gallery
This will open your photo and video library.
Step 3. Find the video you want to transfer
Step 4. Tap the icon
Step 5. Select Email
Step 6. Tap the To field
Enter an email address that you can access on a computer.
Step 7. Choose Send
Step 8. Open a browser on a computer
Open the email you sent to yourself. Which method you use will depend on your email service.
Step 9. Right click on the attached video
Step 10. Select Save Link As
This option is in the menu that appears.
Depending on your email service or browser, this option may be listed as Save or Download
Step 11. Click OK
The video will open on your computer.
Depending on your browser, the option may be listed with the name Open or Open File
Method 2 of 3: Transfer large video files to Google Drive
Step 1. Tap the Google Drive icon
The app icon looks like a green, yellow, and blue triangle.
- If you need to download the app, tap the apps icon at the bottom of the screen open the Play Store then type "Google Drive" in the search bar at the top of the screen. Select Google drive in the search results and then press To install.
- If this is your first time using the app, you will be prompted to enter your Google account information.
Step 2. Tap the multi-colored plus icon
You will find it at the bottom right of the screen.
Step 3. Select the Import option
It is the arrow icon facing up on a horizontal line.
Step 4. Choose Photos & Videos
This will open your media library.
Step 5. Tap the video you want to transfer
Next, tap Import at the top right of the screen.
Step 6. Go to Google Drive
Open your computer's web browser and go to Google Drive.
If you are not yet signed in to Google on the computer, you will be prompted to enter your login credentials
Step 7. Select Recent
This option is on the left side of the Google Drive screen. You may have to scroll down to bring it up.
Step 8. Right click on the name of the video
You will see a pop-up menu appear.
Step 9. Click Download from the context menu
The video will be downloaded to your computer.
Method 3 of 3: Transfer videos with USB cable
Step 1. Unlock your phone or tablet
Enter your passcode to unlock your device.
Step 2. Connect it to your computer using a USB cable
The small end goes into your device and the other into your computer.
The exact location of the USB port varies from machine to machine, but the miniUSB port on the phone or tablet is usually at the bottom. On laptops you will find it on the sides while on desktops it will be on the front or back of the case
Step 3. Tap Charge this device via USB
This is the notification that appears on your phone or tablet screen.
Step 4. Select File Transfer
This will open a file transfer window on your computer.
