Each smartphone model has different options or apps that let you customize your device. You not only have the ability to personalize your phone, but also (by connecting your phone to your computer) to personalize your computer. For example, you can create a webcam: rather than spending money to buy a webcam, you can take your Nokia phone which runs the Symbian operating system and use its camera function as a webcam for your PC.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Install SmartCam
Step 1. Download an application called SmartCam
You need to install it on both your phone and your PC.

Step 2. Install the SmartCam application on your PC
Follow the installation instructions to properly install it on your computer.

Step 3. Open Nokia PC Suite
If you do not already have this program on your computer, you can install it from the installation CD in your phone packaging, or download it here: http://www.nokia.com/global / support / nokia-pc-suite /.

Step 4. Connect your phone to your computer
Connect the data transfer cable to your phone and plug the other end into a USB port on your computer.
Wait for Nokia PC suite to detect your phone

Step 5. Drag the Symbian SmartCam file that you downloaded from Nokia PC Suite to install

Part 2 of 3: Install SmartCam on the PC

Step 1. Launch the SmartCam application
Click the shortcut icon on the desktop to open it.

Step 2. Click on the gear icon in the upper left corner of the window to open the settings

Step 3. Choose the type of connection you want to use between your phone and your computer
You can choose to connect them via Wi-Fi or via Bluetooth.
If you want to use the Wi-Fi TCP / IP option, you must configure a 4-digit port number. Do not use a simple 4-digit connection as it will not work

Step 4. Click OK to save the settings
Part 3 of 3: Install SmartCam on your phone

Step 1. Launch the application on your phone
Once you have launched it, press the soft key on your phone to open the application options menu.

Step 2. Scroll through the options menu and select “Settings”
If you want to use the Bluetooth connection, you can skip this step and go to step 4

Step 3. Enter the same port number that you entered in the Wi-Fi TCP / IP field of the SmartCam PC application

Step 4. Open the application options menu on your phone and select "Connect"

Step 5. Choose Bluetooth or TCP / IP Wi-Fi
- To connect via Bluetooth, the app will need to turn on your phone's Bluetooth and search for nearby devices. Simply select your computer from the list of detected devices and establish the connection.
- To connect via TCP / IP Wi-Fi, enter your computer's IP address in the "Server name" field. Select your computer name from the list of available access points and wait for the application to finish establishing the connection.
- Your phone's video display will now appear on your computer's SmartCam application.
Advice
- The SmartCam app is also available for other mobile operating systems like Android or Bada.
- You can find your computer's IP address using the command prompt.
- You can also install the SmartCam application on your phone without having Nokia PC Suite. Simply copy the.sis file to your phone memory and open it. Your phone should have an app to explore this type of file.
