Step 1. Open Google Sheets in your browser

Type sheets.google.com into your browser's address bar, then press Enter or Return on your keyboard.

Find the worksheet you want to script in and open it.

This button is located in one of the tabs of the bar under the name of the file, at the top left of the sheet. A drop-down menu opens.

Google's intra-browser script editor will then open in a new tab.

Click on the header Untitled project at the top left of your window and enter the name of your new script project in the Edit Project Name window.

This button is located in the toolbar under the filename and tab bar at the top left of your window. When you click on it, your code will be saved and executed in the Script Editor.

  • If you are asked to allow script testing, click Check permissions and Authorize the test script in your account settings.
