The "Select All" command can be used on your computer, phone or tablet. Although the selectable items may be different depending on what is on the screen and the device you are using (computer, phone, or tablet), the operation itself is usually always the same.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Select All in Windows

Step 1. Use the keyboard shortcut
Whatever elements are displayed on the screen, a window or a page, if you are on a computer you can select them all by pressing a combination of keys.
- Click in the window you want to select.
- Press the Ctrl and A keys at the same time.

Step 2. Use Windows Explorer
If you are in a window of the File Explorer (for example, My Documents Where This PC), you can use the menu options at the top left of the window to select all of the items displayed in the window.
- Click on the folder, whose items you want to select, in the left window.
- Click on Home in the upper left corner of the window.
- Select Select all in the section To select in the toolbar that appears at the top of the window.

Step 3. Use the context menu
If your mouse is on a right button, you can right click in most text or web pages to display a drop down menu and then click Select all.
If you don't have a right button on your mouse, then use two fingers on your mouse or computer trackpad to bring up the drop-down menu

Step 1. Use the keyboard shortcut
Whatever elements are displayed on the screen, a window or a page, if you are on a computer you can select them all by pressing a combination of keys.
- Click in the window you want to select.
- Simultaneously press the ⌘ Command and A keys.

Step 2. Use the Edit menu
Open the page that contains the items you want to select. Then, click on the button Editing which is at the top left of the screen and click on Select all from the drop-down menu that appears.
- If the option Select all is grayed out, it means that you cannot use this command on the current page.
Method 3 of 4: Select All on iPhone

Step 1. Open a text app
You will not be able to use the command Select all in the screens of your iPhone itself (for example, the settings screen or the home page), but you can select all of the text on a page Notes Where Word.
- It also works for text in the app Messages.

Step 2. Click anywhere on the page
This will display the cursor on the page.

Step 3. Select a portion of text
Press and hold to select a portion of text, a magnifying circle will appear.

Step 4. Release the pressure
Once the circle is displayed, you can release the tap and an options bar will appear above the text.

Step 5. Select Select All
The command is in the options bar. By doing this, you will select all of the text on the page.
Method 4 of 4: Select All in Android

Step 1. Launch a text app
You cannot use the command Select all than for your own writings.
For example, you can open a Word document

Step 2. Click in the writing field
This will display your cursor in the document.

Step 3. Display the options menu
Press and hold the text you want to select. After a short while, a menu will appear at the top of the screen or above the text.

Step 4. Tap Select All
The button is at the top of the screen. This will select all of the text on the page.
- In some cases, the buttons Select all will look like four squares assembled into one large square.
- Some applications may have a different version of the command Select all depending on the context.
