3 ways to smell good all the time

Whether you want to hug a friend or flirt with your sweetheart on the couch, smelling good is very important to building confidence and feeling even more attractive. So start by taking care of yourself and wearing clean, fresh clothes, then find a scent that suits you in a way that turns all heads!

Method 1 of 3: Stay fresh

Smell Good All the Time Step 1

Step 1. Take a shower

If you want to smell good then you have to start with being clean. How often you need to shower depends on your skin pH, the activities you do during the day, and the weather. A lot of people only take a shower a day, but if you've been exercising during the day or live in a warmer area then you will likely need to wash more than once. On the contrary, if your skin is very dry, then wash it every other day instead. Either way, be sure to wash yourself often so you don't smell bad.

  • In the shower, soap your skin and rinse it with lukewarm water to remove dirt, sweat and bacteria that can cause bad body odor.
  • If you have any doubts, then don't hesitate to take a shower! Trying to cover up bad smells with perfume or deodorant won't work as well as a good shower.
  • If you don't want to wash your hair every day (some say it damages it more), use dry shampoo every other day. This is a special product capable of absorbing the oil which makes your hair greasy.

Step 2. Use deodorant

2% of people have a discomfort that prevents their armpits from producing bad odors. They're lucky, aren't they? The rest of us need deodorant to keep us from smelling badly throughout the day. Apply some after the shower, then repeat during the day if necessary.

  • You can also choose a deodorant that is antiperspirant if you tend to sweat a lot.
  • Deodorants are sold in the form of sticks, sprays or beads. You can also buy a natural deodorant or even make it yourself using baking soda and coconut oil. Always choose a deodorant that smells you like.
  • If you also use perfume or cologne, no need to choose a very fragrant deodorant. Too many smells kill the smell!

Step 3. Try talcum powder

It is indeed a great way to stay cool after showering. Put some under your armpits, on your feet, etc. The talcum powder will keep your skin dry and cool during the day, which is ideal on hot days.

  • You can buy refurbished adult talc or use classic baby talc, which works just as well. Instead, choose unscented talcum powder, as babies' babies tend to have a peculiar smell.
  • Don't want to buy talcum powder? So do it yourself! All you will need for this is corn starch. And if you want it to be fragrant, then dip a piece of cotton in your favorite scent or some essential oil. Then apply the talcum powder with a makeup brush.

Step 4. Wear smelly clothes

Wearing the same clothes for several days in a row can cause bad odors to form, so be sure to use machines regularly! Whether your laundry is scented or not, the important thing is that your clothes are clean.

  • Consider bringing a few extra clothes if you are out all day. Some people like to have a spare underwear, tights, socks or a T-shirt handy just in case.
  • If you are working in a smoky place then you will need to take extra care of your clothes. So remember to wash them more often, to use a scented detergent as well as a fabric softener so that your clothes are always clean.
  • Have your coat and other delicate clothes cleaned by a laundromat every three months to keep them clean.
  • In addition to clothes, don't forget your bags, hats and other accessories. Wash them at least twice a year, especially if you wear them often.

Step 5. Make your feet smell great

If you are worried that these will smell bad then be sure to wash them well in the shower, then dry them off and apply some talcum powder to the soles of your feet before putting on your shoes. Also remember to have a spare pair of socks with you. Also make sure you have new shoes that are in good condition (old shoes can indeed cause bad odors).

  • Always have a different pair of shoes than the one you usually wear when playing sports.
  • Also, be sure to carry a small pot of talcum powder with you if you need to use it during the day.
  • If possible, always wear socks in your shoes. If you are barefoot in your sneakers, then your feet will sweat more, which will cause a bad smell.

Step 6. Get fresh breath

Good dental hygiene is the best way to always smell great. Brush your teeth daily and see your dentist regularly to make sure your teeth are healthy. In addition to good hygiene, you can have fresh breath thanks to these few tips.

  • Drink a lot of water. This is especially important during and after meals, in order to rinse your mouth and remove pieces of food stuck in your teeth.
  • Use mouthwashes, but make sure they don't contain alcohol. Alcohol-based mouthwashes can dry out your mouth and cause bad odors to form. Instead, use an alcohol-free mouthwash to freshen your breath.
  • Avoid garlic, onions, and very spicy foods on days when you really want to have a good breath. The smell of these foods tends to stick in the mouth, even after brushing your teeth or after a mouthwash.
  • Always have mints with you in case of an emergency!

Method 2 of 3: Put on perfume and cologne

Smell Good All the Time Step 7

Step 1. Choose the perfect scent

Look for a scent that characterizes you and looks good on you. A good perfume is one that you will never tire of wearing all day. It should not be too strong, nor too subtle. Try several scents until you find the one you like. You can choose to wear the same scent every day or alternate with several.

  • You can wear different scents for different occasions. A floral and citrus-based scent is perfect for the day, while a stronger, more musky scent is great for the evening.
  • If you are looking for more masculine notes, choose an eau de cologne made with cedar, fir and sandalwood.
  • Perfumes don't all smell the same depending on who is wearing them. The pH of your skin affects the fragrance you wear and can alter it slightly throughout the day. So the scent of a friend you like so much might not smell the same on you.
  • You can also choose a lotion or body oil if you don't like scents.

Step 2. Apply a little perfume in strategic places

No need to spray yourself from head to toe: instead, choose strategic places, so that people aren't disgusted by your scent. A small dose of perfume will last all day! Put it on your wrists, in your neck and behind your ears.

  • If your perfume is in a spray, then hold it several inches away from you and spray it gently, then place your wrists in the scent cloud.
  • The same goes for scented lotions. A small amount is all it takes for you to smell great. Use basic moisturizing lotion to hydrate the rest of your body.

Step 3. Perfume your hair

If the smell of your shampoo is not very strong, then spray some perfume in your hair. This is a subtle way to keep you smelling good all day. You can also add a few drops of perfume directly to your shampoo.

Step 4. Always keep the same kind of scent

Avoid wearing three or four different scents on you in the same day or people could block their noses as you walk by! Put on only one perfume per day.

  • This means that if your body lotion already smells strong enough, then there is no need to add more perfume and vice versa.
  • Make sure you don't wear multiple scents on purpose. Your deodorant, hairspray, and lip balm may have different scents. In general, therefore, prefer products without perfume.

Step 5. Try to create an original scent

Get some essential oils of rose, lavender, lemongrass or vetiver and use them for perfume. You can even mix several essential oils to create a truly original scent!

  • You will find many essential oils in organic stores, in the beauty and body care department.
  • You can also dilute your essential oils in water or vodka to reduce the smell. Then pour the mixture into a spray bottle and use it on your body or hair.

Method 3 of 3: Tips for Smelling Great All Day

Smell Good All the Time Step 12

Step 1. Remember to stay cool during the day

It's of course important to wash in the morning and put on clean clothes to start the day off right, but there are also a few tips for staying fresh on all occasions, whether you're in class or at work!

  • Brush your teeth or wash your mouth. Your breath will immediately be much fresher.
  • Add more perfume if necessary. Be careful not to put too much either, for fear of "cocotating"!
  • Change clothes if necessary. If you've been exercising during the day, then consider putting on another T-shirt.
  • Use wipes to refresh you throughout the day. Use it to clean your armpits, then apply the deodorant again.

Step 2. Don't eat too many foods that smell strong

On days when you want to really smell good, try not to eat garlic, onions, or spicy foods, as these foods affect your breath and body odor.

  • Cabbages, nuts and vegetables can also cause bad breath. Eating too much broccoli, nuts, or beans can make you bloated.
  • Instead, prefer fruits and other foods rich in water, which will cleanse your body of toxins and help you smell great.

Step 3. Clean your house

Does your room smell musty? Does your car look grimy? Make sure you clean the places where you spend the most time during the day. Start by cleaning your room: put all the dirty clothes in the laundry basket and remember to hang your clean clothes on hangers. Here are some more tips to keep your room clean.

  • Spray a few drops of essential oil mixed with a little water on your sheets and your pillow.
  • Shampoo the carpet regularly. Rugs and carpets tend to retain bad smells and it is therefore important to clean them regularly. You can also do this by placing a little baking soda on your carpet and then vacuuming it.
  • Clean your car. Wash the seats and ventilate well.

Step 4. Scent your drawers and cupboards

If you want your clothes to always smell good, have a few cool bags in your closets. You can make them yourself by placing a little dried lavender in a small fabric bag. This way, your clothes will always have a subtle and pleasant scent all day long.
