Learn how to remove photos you uploaded to Facebook or remove your tag from photos of other users. You can do this either on the mobile app or on the website.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Delete downloaded photos
Operate on mobile

Step 1. Open Facebook
The Facebook app looks like a white "f" on a blue background. Your news feed will appear if you are already signed in.
If you are not yet logged in to Facebook, enter your email address (or phone number) and password to continue

Step 2. Press ☰
This option can be found either in the lower right corner of your screen (on iPhone) or in the upper right corner (on Android).

Step 3. Tap your name
This option is at the top of the menu and allows you to view your profile.

Step 4. Scroll down
Scroll down and tap Photos. This is a tab located under the section dedicated to your profile information.

Step 5. Tap the Mobile Downloads tab
You will see this tab at the top of the screen.

Step 6. Select a photo to delete
Scroll to the photo you want to delete and then tap it to view it.

Step 7. Press ⋯ (on iPhone) or on ⋮ (on Android).
This button is located at the top right of the screen. A menu will appear.

Step 8. Tap Remove
This option is at the top of the menu.

Step 9. Press Remove when prompted
The photo will be deleted from your Facebook account. If there is a post associated with the photo, it will also be deleted.
Delete on desktop

Step 1. Open Facebook
Go to from your favorite web browser. Your news feed will appear if you are already signed in.
If you are not yet logged in, enter your email address (or phone number) and password at the top right of the page

Step 2. Click on your name
This tab is located at the top right of the Facebook page. Your profile will be displayed.

Step 3. Click Photos
There's a tab under your cover photo.

Step 4. Click Your Photos
This tab is located under the heading Pictures near the list of photos. A list of photos that you have personally uploaded will open.

Step 5. Select a photo
Scroll to the photo you want to delete and hover over it with the mouse cursor. You should see a pencil-shaped button appear in the upper right corner of the photo.

Step 6. Click on the pencil icon
A drop-down menu will appear.

Step 7. Click Remove This Photo
This is the last option in the drop-down menu.

Step 8. Click Remove when prompted
The photo will be deleted from your Facebook account. If there is a post associated with this photo, it will also be deleted.
Method 2 of 2: Remove tag from photos

Operate on mobile

Step 1. Open Facebook

Step 6. Open a photo
Open the photo on which you want to remove your identification. Scroll to and tap the photo.

Step 7. Press ⋯ (on iPhone) or on ⋮ (on Android).
This option is located at the top right of the screen. A drop-down menu will appear.

Step 8. Tap Remove ID
This option is in the drop-down menu.

Step 9. Press OK when prompted
The ID will be removed from the photo and the photo will disappear from your journal.
The photo will still be visible to friends of the person who posted it
Delete on desktop

Step 1. Open Facebook

Step 2. Click on your name
This tab is located at the top right of the Facebook page. Your profile will be displayed.

Step 3. Click Photos
There's a tab under your cover photo.

Step 4. Click Your Photos
This tab is located at the bottom left of the header Pictures near the list of photos. Click on it to open a list of photos where you are tagged.

Step 5. Select the photo you want to remove the tag from
Scroll to the photo on which you want to remove the tag and hover over it with your mouse cursor. You should see a pencil icon at the top right of the photo.

Step 6. Click on the pencil icon
A drop-down menu will appear.

Step 7. Click Remove ID
This option is at the bottom of the drop-down menu.

Step 8. Click OK when prompted
Your ID will be removed from the photo and the photo will disappear from your journal.
- You can also check the box I wish this photo removed from Facebook to report the photo.
- Photos where you are no longer identified remain visible to friends of the person who posted them.
