Facebook offers the ability to search for users who are in a specific location. For this to work, the person you are looking for must have a specific location listed on their profile. Searching by geographic location is possible on the Facebook mobile app or on the Facebook website.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Find a person on mobile
Step 1. Open Facebook
The Facebook app icon is a white "f" on a dark blue background. If you're already signed in, Facebook will open on your news feed.
- If you are not yet logged in, first enter your email address (or phone number) and password then press Log in.
Step 2. Tap the search bar
The search bar is at the top of the screen. Tap it to display your phone keypad.
Step 3. Enter a person's name
Type the name of a person then press To research.
Step 4. Go to the People tab
This tab is located at the top left of the page and allows you to display only people matching the name you are looking for.
Step 5. Press City ▼
This button is located directly under the tab Anybody and opens a window at the bottom of the screen.
Step 6. Select the Find City search bar
This search bar is at the top of the window that appears at the bottom of the screen.
Step 7. Enter the name of a city
You'll see suggestions appear below the search bar as you type.
Step 8. Tap on the city you are looking for
The city you are looking for should appear below the search bar.
Step 9. Choose Apply
This button is located at the top right of the window City which appears at the bottom of the screen. Tap it to display a list of people with the name and location you specified on their profile.
For example, if you typed "Alain Patrick" as the name and selected "Nice" as the city, Facebook will display a list of all the users named Alain Patrick who have set Nice as their geographic location
Method 2 of 2: Find someone on a desktop
Step 1. Open Facebook
Go to Facebook. If you are already signed in to your account, the page will open on your news feed.
If you are not yet logged in, enter your email address (or phone number) and password at the top right of the page
Step 2. Click on the search bar
The search bar is at the top of the Facebook page.
Step 3. Type a person's name
Type the name of the person you want to find and then press the Enter key. This will bring up a list of people in your area with a matching name (or similar).
Step 4. Go to the People tab
The tab People can be found just under the search bar at the top of the Facebook page.
Step 5. Click Choose City
This link is on the left of the page under the heading City. Click on it to open a search bar.
Step 6. Enter the name of a city
As you type, you'll see suggestions appear below the search bar.
Step 7. Select a city
Click on the name of a city below the search bar. Only people with the selected city and the specified name on their profile will appear in the search results.
