The poke is a feature of Facebook. It is certainly very simple, but also very addictive! By poking a friend, you will send them an instant notification saying "(your name) poke you". Your friend can then choose to send you a poke in return. Open Facebook on another navigation tab and learn how (and when!) To poke a friend!
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Send a poke to a friend

Step 1. Learn what poke is
Before you poke someone for the first time, you'll need to know exactly what you're doing. Here's what happens when you throw a poke.
- Your friend receives a notification saying "(your name) gave you a poke".
- Your friend can choose to send you a poke back, ignore it, or delete it.
- Your poke is saved on your friend's poke page.
-
Note:
the pokes are only visible to the targeted friend. Other than this, no one will see the action.

Step 2. Go to your friend's profile
Sending a poke to a Facebook contact is super easy. To get started, go to the person's profile. You can do this by entering their name in the search bar or clicking on their name from your news feed or your friends list.
You will only be able to send pokes to your Facebook friends. You will not be offered this option for users who are not in your contact list

Step 3. Click on the “
.. ».
At the top of the person's profile, you'll see their profile photo on the left, their full-length cover photo, and a few buttons on the right side. Look for the ellipsis button. Click on it.

Step 4. Click Poke. By clicking, you will send the notification to your friend. He can choose to send you a poke in return or to delete it.

Step 5. See if your friend has sent you a poke back
To do this, consult the pokes page, on which Facebook will show all those you have received. Go to Facebook.com/pokes. On this page, you will be able to see who you sent pokes to and who sent them to you.
If you and one of your contacts have traded a lot of pokes, the page will also tell you how many times you have been poked in succession

Step 6. Use the buttons to respond to pokes from your friends
When someone sends you a poke (or you send them a poke and they return it to you), you will see a button appear. Send a poke back, in blue next to his name, on the pokes page. To instantly send a poke to the person concerned, click this button. This will be a great way to play multiple person poker at once, without having to visit their profiles.
Part 2 of 2: understanding poke etiquette

Step 1. Send pokes to your friends to get their attention
The interest of the poke is very difficult to explain clearly. Poker someone on Facebook is a little like tapping them on the shoulder in real life: it will be a way to get their attention, but the gesture can also involve a lot of other things. You can tease a friend with pokes, let them know you're thinking of them or remind them that you messaged them… it all depends on the context and the situation.
Consider these points: If two people who like each other poke late either, does the gesture mean the same as when two classmates poke each other at noon? Probably not

Step 2. Don't overuse the poke
This will probably be the most important rule of all when it comes to pokeing. If an occasional poke fight with a friend is a lot of fun, don't make a habit of pestering your contacts with this feature. It's very annoying to log into Facebook, see a new notification and realize that it's just yet another poke from the same person. In this situation, your friends will simply ignore your pokes.

Step 3. Do not poke someone to get the attention of others
Keep in mind that when you poke a contact, only that contact is notified. Don't poke someone to make them uncomfortable because no one will be able to see what you are doing.

Step 4. Don't poke people you don't know well
It's not uncommon to have people on your Facebook friend list who are, in real life, only vague acquaintances. If there's nothing stopping you from poking them, it usually won't be a good idea. The recipient of the poke might be embarrassed by the attention: a little like getting a pat on the shoulder from someone they don't know well.
Advice
- Each time you and your friends exchange pokes, you tighten your bond a little bit!
- All your friends will be able to send you pokes (and vice versa). To prevent someone from poking you, block them.
