Cuddling is one of the many benefits of sleeping next to your partner. There is a popular "spooning" method of seeing both mates lie on the same side facing the same direction with one of them wrapping their arms around the other. However, this position can often block sensations in the lower arm (or paresthesia) which is caused by a temporary stoppage of blood flow in the body. To prevent this from happening and you having to wake your partner up to save your arm, you can change your position to stay close to each other while still maintaining good blood circulation in your limbs.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: lying in a spoon without locking your arm

Step 1. Slide the lower arm behind you
Have your partner lie on their side. Lie down next to him. Slide the upper arm over your body and the lower arm behind you. This method allows you to easily change position during the night without waking the other.

Step 2. Sleep on your back
Have your partner rest their head or arm on your chest. This method generally works well for people who have a large torso. It's a romantic position that we often see in movies and that is common to new relationships.
- You and your partner should lie on their backs in the bed.
- Have him slide towards you and rest his head on your chest.
- With your arm under his body, take him in your arms so that his body is positioned at the level of your armpit.

Step 3. Try to prop yourself up with pillows
This leaves room for the arm underneath. The idea is to leave enough space under your partner where they can put their arm comfortably.
- Sleep a little lower on the mattress and extend your arm above you under the pillow. Your feet shouldn't protrude from the bed, but the extra space above your head will allow you to rest your arm on it. This method requires a little preparation in advance and cooperation with your partner.
- Try changing the mattress if you really want to make sure you have enough space.

Step 4. Sleep back to back with them touching each other
This popular position still helps you get a feeling of privacy. In addition, it allows you to move your arms without problem.

Step 5. Communicate about your cuddles in bed
It is important that you find a position that looks good on both of you. While you are worrying about your arm, your partner might actually get too hot and feel uncomfortable. Discuss what you like and like less and stay open to the possibility of other positions.
Part 2 of 2: clearing your sore arm

Step 1. Try to gently pull him out from under his body
If your arm is at his neck or waist level, you can gently pull it out and free it by pushing it against the mattress and sliding it out.

Step 2. Move your partner gently to free your arm
Slowly move closer to him as if you want to tighten the embrace. Use your momentum to roll it gently over your arm so you can release it.

Step 3. Wake up your partner
If you can't feel your arm anymore and you can't get it out, you need to talk to it. Be nice, but clear, say something like, "Honey, could you let me free my arm you're lying on?" While it might seem weird at the time, remember that open communication is always better than a creeping grudge.

Step 4. Suffer in silence
If your partner is sleeping like a baby and you still have room before the amputation, you might choose to take it easy. Sooner or later, he will change his position, which will allow you to free yourself. You always have to make sacrifices in love and if you can do it freely and without hard feelings, it could strengthen your bond.
