You can easily learn how to create a Twitter account, either from a computer or the mobile app.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Create an account on a computer
Step 1. Open the Twitter site
Go to in the browser of your choice.
Step 2. Click Register
It's a blue button that's in the middle of the page. This should take you to the registration page.
Step 3. Enter your name
Type your name in the text field where it says "Name". The name you choose does not have to be your real name, you can choose a pseudonym or your company name (if it is).
Step 4. Enter your phone number
Type it in the field where it says "Phone".
- If you prefer to use your email address, click on Use my email address under the "Phone" field, then enter your email address. Make sure the one you choose is also the one you want associated with your account.
Step 5. Click Next
You will find it at the top right of the page.
Step 6. Select Register
This option is in the middle of the page.
Step 7. Verify your phone number
Skip this step if you used your email address to register. If you used your phone number, you'll need to verify it by going through the following steps.
- Click on OK when it appears.
- Open your messages on your phone.
- Open the message you received from Twitter.
- Find the six-digit code in the message.
- Enter this code in the text field on Twitter.
- Select Following to continue.
Step 8. Create a password
Type your password in the "Password" field, then click Following to confirm the password.
Step 9. Choose your areas of interest
Scroll down the list of topics and select the ones that interest you.
You can also choose to do it later by clicking on the corresponding link at the top of the window. If you do, go to the next step
Step 10. Click Next
You will see it at the top right of the page.
Step 11. Find accounts to follow
Check the box next to each recommended account you would like to track.
- If you don't want to follow anyone right now, you can just select Following and go to the next step.
Step 12. Click Follow
You will find the button at the top right of the page. This allows you to add the selected accounts to your list of accounts you follow and your news feed will fill up.
Step 13. Confirm your email address
If you used your email address to sign up on Twitter, you will need to confirm it before you can use the advanced features of the platform.
- Open your email box.
- Click on the email Twitter sent you.
- Click on the confirmation link in the email.
Method 2 of 2: Create an account on a mobile device
Step 1. Download the app
If you don't already have the Twitter app installed on your iOS or Android device, you can download it for free from the App Store (for iOS) or the Google Play Store (for Android).
Step 2. Open Twitter
Select the button To open after downloading the application or directly tap on the icon.
Step 3. Tap Register
You will see the button in the middle of the page. This should open the registration form.
Step 4. Enter your name
Type the name you want in the text field with the title "Name" at the top of the page. You can choose a nickname or your company name (if applicable).
Step 5. Enter your phone number
Select the text field with the title "Phone or Email," then type in your phone number.
- If you prefer to use your email address, select Use my email address at the bottom of the text field for the phone number, then enter the address you want to use.
Step 6. Tap Next
You will see it at the bottom right of the form.
Step 7. Select Register
You will see this option at the bottom of the screen.
Step 8. Verify your phone number
Skip this step if you used your email address to register. On the other hand, if you used your phone number, you must verify it by going through the following steps.
- Tap on OK when it appears on the screen.
- Open your message box on your phone.
- Open the text you received from Twitter.
- Find the six-digit code there.
- Enter it in the text field on the app.
- Tap on Following to continue.
Step 9. Choose a password
Type the password of your choice for your Twitter account, and then select Following to continue. Use a secure, easy-to-remember password.
Step 10. Synchronize your contacts if you want
To give your contacts access to Twitter, you can select Synchronize my contacts before following the instructions that appear (depending on your device, these steps may be different).
Step 11. Choose your areas of interest
Scroll through the list of topics and select the ones that interest you.
- You can also click on Choose later at the top of the page. If you do, skip the next step.
Step 12. Tap Next
You will find it at the bottom of the screen.
Step 13. Track Accounts
Select each recommended account to track it.
Once again, you can choose to skip this step and do it later
Step 14. Select Follow
You will see it at the bottom of the screen. This will allow you to add these accounts to the list of those you follow.
Step 15. Complete the preparation of your Twitter account
Depending on the device you have, you may be asked to allow notifications, access to your GPS or your photos. Once you have completed this step, you will return to your news feed where you can take advantage of your new account.
- You can deny access by choosing Not to allow Where Later so that Twitter does not have access to these features.
Advice
- Twitter users who don't have the app can still access it through their phone's browser.
