If you take photos and videos in Snapchat, you can save them to keep a version after they are gone.
Steps
Part 1 of 4: choose a default save location

Step 1. Open Snapchat
Tap the white ghost icon on a yellow background.
If you don't log in automatically, enter your username and password

Step 2. Open your profile page
To do this, swipe down anywhere on the screen.

Step 3. Press ⚙️
This is the icon at the top right of the screen. You will then access your settings.

Step 4. Select Memories
This option is near the end of the section My account in the settings menu.

Step 5. Tap Save In
This option can be found under the Save options menu item.

Step 6. Choose a location
There are three options to choose from.
- Memories is an in-app gallery that resides on Snapchat's server. To access it, swipe up from the Camera screen. You can upload or share the photos you save there anytime.
- The option Memories and Film allows you to save photos both in Memories and in the pictures folder on your mobile device.
- Film allows you to save them only in the pictures folder of your device.

Step 7. Go back
Tap the arrow at the top left of the screen to return to your profile page. Now when you save your photos and videos to Snapchat, they will be saved in the location you choose.
- If you want to automatically save each Story you create in the app, select the option Automatic Stories Saving.
Part 2 of 4: Record a photo or video

Step 1. Open Snapchat
Select the yellow icon with a white ghost.
If your connection is not done automatically, enter your username and password

Step 2. Take a photo or video
Orient your device's camera the way you want and tap the big circle at the bottom of the screen to take a photo or long press it to take a video.

Step 3. Save the file
Tap the square icon with a down arrow in the lower left corner of the screen. This will save the photo or video to the default location.
Part 3 of 4: Record a Story

Step 1. Open Snapchat
To do this, press the icon representing a white ghost on a yellow background.
If necessary, enter your username and password to login

Step 2. Swipe left
You will be taken to your Stories page.

Step 3. Save your Story
Tap the down arrow icon to the right of the option My Story. Your Story will then be saved in the default location you have chosen.
Part 4 of 4: Take a screenshot of a Snap

Step 1. Know how to take a screenshot
If you're using an iPhone or iPad, press the Home screen button and the Lock button at the same time. Android devices vary, but in most cases you need to press the button On Off and on the one to lower the volume at the same time.
- On Samsung Galaxy series phones, you have to press the button On Off and on the home screen at the same time.

Step 2. Open Snapchat
Tap the white ghost icon on a yellow background.
If you don't log in automatically, enter your username and password

Step 3. Swipe right
This will open your list of chats.

Step 4. Selects an unopened Snap
It will open and you will have 10 seconds or less to take a screenshot. Be ready!

Step 5. Take a screenshot
Do this as soon as the chosen Snap opens.
- You will then be able to access the captured image in your device's Camera Roll.
- The person who sent you the Snap will receive a notification letting them know you've taken a screenshot.
- If you're not fast enough the first time, you can tap and hold the viewed Snap to review it. You can only do this once for each Snap.
