Learn how to activate and apply effects and filters on videos on Snapchat.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Enable Filters on Snapchat

Step 1. Open the Snapchat app
She is represented by the icon of a white ghost on a yellow background.
- If you haven't signed in to your Snapchat account yet, type your username (or email address) and password, then tap To log in.

Step 2. Swipe your finger down on the camera screen
This action will display your profile.

Step 3. Press ⚙️
You will see this button in the upper right corner of the screen.

Step 4. Scroll down and tap Manage preferences
This option can be found in the section ADDITIONAL OPTIONS.

Step 5. Activate the Filters option
When you click in the box to the right of this option, it will be checked and will turn green. You can now apply filters to your snaps!
If the button is green, it means that the filters are already activated
Part 2 of 3: Use face filters

Step 1. Return to the Camera screen
To do this, press the back arrow located in the upper left corner of the screen until you reach your profile page. Then swipe up on the screen.

Step 2. Press and hold your finger on the screen
After a few moments, you will see icons appear to the right of the camera button.
- If the camera is not facing you, tap the icon in the upper right corner of your screen.
- If you want to apply the face filter to a friend or yourself, tap the face to which you want to apply the effect.

Step 3. Swipe right on the screen to cycle through the available effects
As soon as you choose a filter, you will be able to record a video while having it activated.
There are certain effects that will change your voice if they are activated while you speak. When you select them, you will temporarily see the icon of the chosen effect appear on the screen
Part 3 of 3: Apply Video Filters

Step 1. Press and hold your finger on the circular button
This action will record a video. The maximum length of a video you can save on Snapchat is ten seconds.

Step 2. Swipe your finger left or right on the video
This action will apply filters to your snap.

Step 3. Select Allow
Do this when Snapchat asks to know your location. If this is your first time using filters, you will likely be prompted to allow the app to access your device's location. Location is required for Snapchat to see all geotagged filters available for your region.

Step 4. Use the color filters
This will allow you to change the atmosphere of the video. Color filters have the ability to change the emotional climate of your video.
- By using the white-black filter, for example, you can add a nostalgic effect to your snap.
- Usually, you can swipe left on the screen for quick access to color filters.

Step 5. Use geotagged filters to add clipart
Location filters are effects created by the Snapchat community based on the user's location. There are several filters from many cities that you can choose from. In addition, you will find filters for historical sites and other places. You can quickly find the location-based filters by swiping the screen from left to right after recording your video.
If you can't find a filter associated with your city, you can create one yourself and send it

Step 6. Press the <<< filter
This button will allow you to play the video backwards while activating effects such as impossible captures.

Step 7. Choose the acceleration filter
This effect represented by a bunny image and when you select it, it will multiply the original speed of the whole video by two. You can use it to make a funny and fast video which is great for filming your pets.

Step 8. Select the slowdown filter
It is represented by a snail and will slow down the video when you select it. One of the best uses you can make of this filter is bypassing the app's usual ten-second time limit. By recording a ten second video and applying the slowdown filter to it, you have the option of sending a 20 second snap.

Step 9. Use two filters at the same time
Press and hold a filter, then use another finger to combine two filters. You have the possibility of combining several filters such as the reverse reading one with the geolocation filter or the fast reading filter with the white-black effect.
