Learn how to delete cookies from your Safari browser on an iPhone or Mac. Cookies are particles of site data that allow Safari to store usernames, passwords, preferences, and more. Since they are downloaded to your computer every time you open a new web page, you might block them completely to prevent them from downloading in the future.
Method 1 of 2: Delete cookies on Mac
Step 1. Open Safari
To do this, click on the browser icon that looks like a blue compass in your Mac's dock.
Step 2. Click Safari
This is the menu located in the upper left corner of the screen. A drop-down menu will appear when you click on it.
If you don't see this option, make sure Safari is the primary window by clicking on it
Step 3. Select Preferences
This option is in the middle of the drop-down menu of Safari. When you click on it, a window will open.
Step 4. Click on the Privacy tab
It sits up in the window Preferences.
Step 5. Click Manage Website Data
This option can be found in the section Cookies and website data. When you click on it, a window will appear with a list of all the cookies in your browser.
Step 6. Select Erase All
It's a gray button at the bottom of the window.
Step 7. Choose Remove when prompted
This action will delete all cookies from your browser.
Step 8. Block all cookies in the future
If you want to prevent cookies from being saved again, check the box Always block in the section Cookies and website data menu Preferences. This action will prevent Safari from saving cookies from sites.
- You might be asked to confirm this action.
- Be aware that there are sites that require cookies before you can load certain features. Blocking all cookies will therefore prevent them from functioning properly.
Method 2 of 2: Delete cookies on iPhone
Step 1. Go to settings
from your iPhone.
Tap the settings icon which is represented by a toothed route on a gray background.
Step 2. Scroll down and tap Safari
This option is on the third of the page.
Step 3. Select Clear History, Site Data
This option is located at the bottom of the page Safari.
Step 4. Press Clear when prompted
This action will delete all Safari browser cookies on your iPhone.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to delete cookies only in Safari on iPhone
Step 5. Block cookies in the future
If you want to prevent cookies from being stored in your browser in the future, scroll up to the section PRIVACY AND SECURITY on the page Safari, then press the white button
of the option Block all cookies, then select at the prompt Block all. The button will then turn green
, which means your iPhone's Safari browser will no longer accept cookies.
