The Safari start page or home page is the page that appears each time you open the browser. You can edit it and select whatever you want, but if infected with adware, it will reset itself indefinitely. In this case, you can try to manually get rid of the software to regain control of your browser. If you are using an iOS device, you will be able to create custom shortcuts to simulate a traditional start page.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: On macOS X
Modify your home page

Step 1. Open Safari browser
You can change the start page or home page from the browser settings.

Step 2. Click on the Safari menu
Then select Preferences to open the Safari preferences menu.
- If you are using Safari for Windows, click on the menu Editing then select Preferences. It is strongly recommended that you use the most recent version available, as Safari for Windows is no longer supported by Apple and no longer receives security updates.

Step 3. Go to the General tab

Step 4. Click on the Home Page field
Enter the address of the page you want to display on startup. Be sure to type the full address starting with
- You can also click Use current page to set the currently open page as the new home page.
- If your home page keeps resetting, read the next section.
Get rid of adware

Step 1. Know when it will be necessary
If you've changed your home page in Safari's preferences menu, but it keeps redirecting you to something else, it's probably caused by adware. Removing this software will be a little tricky, but it will allow you to regain control of the browser.

Step 2. Download the most recent version of macOS X
MacOS X updates include adware tools, and updating the operating system will get rid of the infection. Click on the Apple menu then select App Store Where Software updates to check for any available updates. After updating, test Safari again to see if the problem persists. If so, read on!

Step 3. Open the Safari Preferences menu
Select the option Extensions to display all extensions installed on the browser. Click on the ones you don't recognize or no longer need and choose Uninstall. Among the most widespread extensions, we can mention:
- Amazon Shopping Assistant by Spigot Inc.;
- Cinema-Plus Pro (Cinema + HD, Cinema + Plus and Cinema Ploos);
- Ebay Shopping Assistant by Spigot Inc.;
- FlashMall;
- GoPhoto. It;
- Omnibar;
- Searchme by Spigot, Inc;
- Slick Savings by Spigot Inc.;
- Shopy Mate.

Step 4. Exit Safari
Then click on the menu Go in the Finder and select Go to folder.

Step 5. Find each item in this list
Copy and paste each of the following entries into the Go to Folder field. If the item is detected, it will appear in the Finder window and will already be selected. Drag it to the trash and then go to the next item. If you can't find it, go to the next item in the list.
- /System/Library/Frameworks/v.framework
- /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
- / Library / PrivilegedHelperTools / Jack
- / Library / InputManagers / CTLoader /
- / Library / Application Support / Conduit /
- ~ / Library / Internet Plug-Ins / ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
- ~ / Library / Internet Plug-Ins / TroviNPAPIPlugin.plugin
- /Applications/SearchProtect.app
- /Applications/WebTools.app
- /Applications/cinemapro1-2.app
- ~ / Applications / cinemapro1-2.app

Step 6. Restart your computer
After scrolling through the list, restart your computer and then empty the recycle bin.

Step 7. Hold down the ⇧ Shift key when you start Safari
This will prevent reopening of the previous windows.

Step 8. Try to change your home page
With the adware removed, you should be able to edit your home page by following the steps in the first section of this article.
Method 2 of 2: On iPhone, iPad, iPod

Step 1. Use Safari to go to the home page of your choice
There is no way to set a traditional home page in Safari, as it simply restarts where you left off last time. If you want Safari to always load a specific page when you start it, you can create a shortcut to that page on your Home screen and launch the browser using that shortcut instead of the regular application.

Step 2. Tap the share button
Once on the page you want to use as your home page, tap the share button.

Step 3. Select Add to Home Screen
You can then give the shortcut a personalized title or adjust the exact address. Press on Add when you are done making changes.

Step 4. Use your new shortcut to start Safari
Every time you tap your shortcut, you'll load the page you set instead of the last page you opened in Safari. This is the best way to get around the lack of an option to change the home page.
