If you are using the Safari system, you can clear your browsing history or certain specific browsing data regardless of which version (iOS or OS X) of Safari you are using. If you are using a public computer, it may be necessary to delete your browsing history or delete some sites you have visited. It's an easy task that only takes a few minutes, regardless of which version of Safari you're using.
Method 1 of 4: Clear history with OS X
Step 1. Go to Safari then select the Safari menu
This will allow you to clear all of your web history, but if you want to delete specific entries, skip to the second method in this article.
- If your version of Safari is an older version, select the menu instead Historical then click on Clear history.
Step 2. Click Clear History and Site Data
Step 3. In the window that appears, choose the time range of the history to be deleted
You can choose between options All history, The last hour, Today Where Today and yesterday.
Step 4. Select Clear History to confirm your action
The entire history, cookies, searches, and other data included in the time frame you choose will be erased.
Note that this action will also affect the history of all devices linked to your iCloud account
Method 2 of 4: Clear specific entries with OS X
Step 1. Go to Safari and select the History menu
Step 2. Press View History or press Command + ⌥ Option + 2 to access the History screen
Step 3. Find the entries to delete
Use the search bar at the top right of the window or expand the dates to browse all of your entries.
Step 4. Right-click on the entry you want to delete, and then click Remove
If you are using a single button mouse or touchpad, press and hold the Control key and then click to open the menu. Repeat the process for each additional entry you want to clear.
Method 3 of 4: Clear browsing history with iOS
Step 1. Go to settings
To delete all your web history in the iOS version of Safari, you need to do it from the 'Settings' app.
To delete specific entries, go to the next method
Step 2. Scroll through the options and choose Safari
Step 3. Scroll down again and select the Clear History and Site Data option
Press again to confirm. The entire history, cookies and other browsing data will be erased.
Method 4 of 4: Clear specific entries with iOS
Step 1. Go to Safari on your device
To erase certain entries from your browsing history, you can do so in the app Safari.
Step 2. Select Favorites at the bottom of the page
The button represents an open book.
Step 3. Tap History on the Favorites menu
Step 4. Find the specific entry you want to erase and then swipe left
The option To delete will be displayed.
Step 5. Select the Delete option to delete the entry
Repeat this action for each additional entry you want to delete, then press Ended when you are done.
