Let's face it, Internet Explorer isn't the best browser out there, but we can't seem to get rid of it even though we have other browsers installed on our devices. Fortunately, it is now possible to deactivate it.
Steps

Step 1. Download a replacement browser
Make sure you download the browser you want to use as a replacement for Internet Explorer (read the Warnings section).

Step 2. Open the Start menu

Step 3. Access the control panel

Step 4. Click Programs

Step 5. Click Turn off Windows features
This option can be found under Programs and Features.

Step 6. Select Yes
Click on Yes in the User Account Control window which may or may not appear depending on your settings.

Step 7. Wait a few moments
Wait a moment for Windows to compile the list.

Step 8. Uncheck Internet Explorer
When the list appears, uncheck the box next to the named folder Internet Explorer 9.

Step 9. Select Yes
Click on Yes then on OK in the window that appears.

Step 10. Wait
Wait a moment for the new settings to take effect.
