Firefox is a successful web browser that can be downloaded for free. It is very fast and customizable. Follow this guide to install Firefox on your PC, Mac, or Android device, as well as to install custom extensions.

Method 1 of 4: Install Firefox for Windows

Step 1. Visit the Mozilla website
The download link in the green box will automatically detect your operating system and language.
- If you would like to download Firefox in another language or for a different operating system, click on the link Systems and Language just below the Download button.

Step 2. Click the Download button
Your download will begin immediately. Once the file has downloaded, click on it to start the installation. Windows may ask for confirmation before running the file.

Step 3. Choose your type of installation. Standard is an automatic installation which is suitable for most users. It installs everything you need to start using Firefox right away. If you choose the Custom installation, you will be presented with the following options.
- Choose your installation location. Firefox will automatically choose where it thinks is the best place to install it. You can change it if you want.
- Install the maintenance service. This will automatically update Firefox in the background. Disable this option if you want to install updates manually.
- Choose where to place icons. You will have the option to choose the desktop, the start menu and the quick launch bar.
- Choose if you want Firefox to be the default browser. This means that any link you click will open in Firefox.

Step 4. Start Firefox
After a few moments, Firefox will be installed and you can start browsing the web. You can choose to run the program immediately or start it yourself later.

Step 5. Import your settings
If you've used another browser before Firefox, you can import your options, bookmarks, history, and passwords from your old browser. This operation may take a few moments.
Method 2 of 4: Install Firefox on a Mac

Step 1. Download Firefox
You can get it for free from the Mozilla website. The download link will automatically detect your operating system and language. If you want to download a different language or system, click on the link Systems and Language below the Download button.

Step 2. Open the DMG file
When the download is complete, the DMG file should open automatically. If not, click on the downloaded file on your desktop.

Step 3. Install the application
Drag the file Firefox.app in your file Applications. Hold the key Control and click on the Firefox window. Select Eject Firefox.

Step 4. Put Firefox on the dock
To add Firefox to the dock for quick access, click and drag the icon from your Applications folder to the dock.

Step 5. Launch Firefox
You will be notified that this program has been downloaded. Confirm that you want to open it. Firefox will ask you if you want to set it as the default browser. After making your choice, the browser will start.
Method 3 of 4: Install add-ons

Step 1. Understand add-ons
Add-ons are applications that you can add to Firefox to give it additional functionality. You can browse a large library of free add-ons directly from the Firefox program.

Step 2. Open the Add-ons Manager
Click on the menu Firefox at the top left of the window. Click on Additional modules, the icon with the puzzle piece next to it. This will open the Add-ons Manager.

Step 3. Find add-ons to install
The Add-ons Manager will display some recommended add-ons. You can look for specific add-ons in the upper right corner of the window. If you would like to browse the full catalog of add-ons, there is a link at the bottom right.

Step 4. Install an add-on
Once you find an add-on you want, click on the green button Add to Firefox. Firefox will ask you to confirm, then the add-on will be installed. Often you will need to restart Firefox to activate a newly installed add-on.
Method 4 of 4: Install Firefox on an Android device

Step 1. Download Firefox
You can get the Firefox application from the Google Play Store or from the Mozilla website.

Step 2. Install the Application
Push the button To install to install the Firefox application. The installer will ask you to validate the permissions. These do things like let Firefox access your GPS location or write files to your SD card. Review and accept the permissions to continue.

Step 3. Open the application
Once the installation is complete, you can open the application. Check the box Allow automatic updates. This is to ensure that your Firefox application has the latest security patches.
