Check your Firefox version to see if it's time to update it or to fix any bugs. If you are connected to the internet, Firefox will do an automatic update when you check the version.
Method 1 of 2: On a mobile device
Step 1. Open the Firefox menu, then press the menu button
On most devices, it looks like three horizontal lines.
Step 2. Tap the Help icon
It's a question mark inside a circle. It is located in the lower right corner of the screen.
Step 3. Select About Firefox
Select that from the list that appears when you press Aid.
This will automatically start the download of the latest version of Firefox. To prevent this, first put your device in Airplane mode
Step 4. Check the version number
The version number is located below the word Firefox.
Method 2 of 2: On a computer
Step 1. Open Firefox
Step 2. Display the menu bar
The top menu bar would already be visible, including the menu File and Edit. In some versions of Windows or Linux, you will need to press alt = "Image" or F10 to bring up the menu bar.
- Or either, right click at the top of your Firefox window and check Toolbar.
Step 3. Go to the About page
Click Firefox in the menu bar, then select About Mozila Firefox. In some cases, the page In regards to is located under Help.
Opening this page will automatically update Firefox. To avoid this, deactivate your internet connection before clicking on this menu option
Step 4. Read the version number below the word Firefox
You will see a popup window with the word Firefox at the top. Look for the version number just below that in the bold text.
Step 5. Update automatically
If you are using the latest version of Firefox, you will see the phrase Firefox is updated. Otherwise, Firefox will automatically start downloading the latest update. Check the download progress in the same window. When the download is complete, Firefox will be updated the next time you open it.
Step 6. Use other methods
If the menu In regards to doesn't work for one reason or another, try these methods instead.
- Type about: support in the URL bar and press Enter. You will see a titled page Troubleshooting information, which displays the version number just below Application basics. Tap About: for a less detailed page.
(Windows only): Right click on the Firefox desktop icon. Open Properties, go to the Shortcut tab, and then click
Open the location of the file. Right click on firefox.exe open Properties again, then go to the Details tab. Look for the version number in this menu.
- In Windows 7, you can open the menu with keyboard shortcuts. Press Alt + H, then press Alt + A.
- If that fails, go to the command line and type firefox -version or firefox -v.
