Firefox is a free open source cross-platform web browser compatible with Windows, OSX, Linux, iOS and Android, among others. Bookmarking a site makes it easy to save and organize the addresses of sites you often like to visit. This simple guide will allow you to add your favorite sites to favorites from the platform of your choice.


Method 1 of 2: Use Firefox on a computer

Step 1. Open Firefox and go to the page you want to bookmark

Click on the search bar and enter its address. You can add any page.

Step 2. Click the Bookmark button

In the address bar at the top of the screen, click on the star. The star will fill in and the page will be added to your bookmarks.

On Windows or OSX, you can respectively use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + D or ⌘ Cmd + D

Step 3. Edit the bookmark to personalize it

This pop-up will automatically appear the first time you add a page to your favorites. You can rename the bookmark, add tags or even delete it. Press Finish and the changes are saved. Your bookmarks are saved by default in Other Bookmarks.

  • You can reopen this pop-up by going to the bookmark and then clicking on the star icon.
  • If the bookmarks bar is not showing, right-click on the bar at the top of the page and select Bookmarks bar for easy access.

Step 4. Open and edit your bookmarks

Click on the Library (it looks like books on a shelf and is circled in green in the illustration), then select Bookmarks. An insert in which you can search, organize, rename or delete your bookmarks will open.

  • You can also click the button Show personal bar (circled in red in the illustration) to show the side insert.

    The keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + B (on Windows) or ⌘ Cmd + B (on Mac) can also be used to open the bookmarks sidebar

Method 2 of 2: Use Firefox on a mobile

Step 1. Navigate in Firefox to the site you want to bookmark

In the search bar, enter a valid web address.

Step 2. Open the options menu

On Android, it comes in the form of three vertical dots at the top right. Users who are on iOS can skip this step.

Step 3. Tap the star

On Android, its icon is in the options menu. On iOS, this icon is located near the navigation controls at the bottom of the screen. When you tap it, your page is marked as favorites.

Step 4. Go to your bookmarks

Tap the search bar or open a new tab. Marked pages are marked with a star next to the address bar when you type related words into the search box.

  • The new tabs have a Bookmark button that displays the list of pages added as favorites.
  • You can delete your bookmarks either in the address bar or in the new tabs interface.
