Steps
Method 1 of 2: Using an iPhone or iPad

Step 1. Open WhatsApp Messenger on your iPhone or iPad
The WhatsApp icon is a small white phone enclosed in a green text bubble. You can find it on your Home screen or in the application drawer.

Step 2. Tap one of the conversations from the list
Find the conversation of your choice and tap it or its icon to open it.

Step 3. Tap the + icon at the bottom left
Your attachment options open in a context menu.

Step 4. Select Photo & Video Library from the menu
The photo and video gallery on your iPhone or iPad will then open.

Step 5. Find and then tap the video to convert to GIF
It will then open in the WhatsApp video editor.

Step 6. Tap the.gif" />
You'll find it next to the camera icon at the top right of your video, within the editor.

- Once this option is chosen, your video will be automatically transformed into GIF.

Step 7. Crop your.gif" />
You can do a long press and drag the icons < and > on either side of the video player bar at the top of the screen to make your.gif" />
Step 8. Press the Submit button
It is represented by a small white paper airplane on a green background at the bottom right of your screen. Your.gif" />
Method 2 of 2: Using an Android device

Step 1. Open WhatsApp Messenger on your Android device
The WhatsApp icon is a small white phone enclosed in a green text bubble. You can find it on your Home screen or in the application drawer.

Step 2. Tap one of the conversations from the list
You can tap the conversation of your choice to open it and post your.gif" />
Step 3. Tap on the icon

You will find this button next to the three small dots at the top right of your screen. Your attachment options open in a context menu.

Step 4. Tap Gallery from the pop-up menu
This is a photo icon on a purple background. Your device's Camera Roll will open in a new window.

Step 5. Tap the video to convert to GIF
Find the video you want to transform and tap its preview to open it in the WhatsApp video editor.

Step 6. Choose the white icon

Step 7. Crop your.gif" />
If you want, you can long press and drag the blue bars on either side of the video at the bottom, to crop your animation.

Step 8. Press the Submit button
