Updating Microsoft Outlook is a very simple operation, whether on PC or Mac
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Update Outlook 2013 or 2016 on Windows

Step 1. Launch Outlook
Launch the program on your computer, the Outlook icon looks like an "O" with an envelope. You will find the shortcut in the menu To start up.

Step 2. Click File
The tab is located in the upper left corner of the Outlook window. This will bring up the options menu for your file.

Step 3. Select on Account
A new page will then open, containing information about your account and the program itself.
- In some versions, this option may be called Office Account.

Step 4. Click Update Options
The button is located under Product information, the latter displays the details of the program. Once you click on the button, a drop-down menu will appear. There you will find the list of update tools.

Step 5. Click Check for Updates
This will start an online search for available updates. If there is one, it will be automatically downloaded and installed on your computer.
- If you don't see this option, first click Activate updates. The button Check for updates should then appear in the menu.
Method 2 of 3: Update Outlook 2010 on Windows

Step 1. Launch Outlook
Launch the program on your computer, the Outlook icon looks like an "O" with an envelope. You will find the shortcut in the menu To start up.

Step 2. Click File
The tab is located in the upper left corner of the Outlook window. This will bring up the options menu for your file.

Step 3. Click Help
The option is located in the menu File. You'll find it on the left, click or hover over it to view the available options.

Step 4. Click Check for Updates
The button is in the menu Aid. This will initiate an online search for available updates. If there is one, it will be automatically downloaded and installed on your computer.
- In some versions, this option may be called Install updates.
- Make sure your PC is up to date before updating Outlook 2000. If your Windows is not up to date, you will be redirected to the Microsoft site.
Method 3 of 3: Update Outlook on Mac

Step 1. Launch Outlook
Launch the program on your computer, the Outlook icon looks like an "O" with an envelope. You will find it in the folder Applications.

Step 2. Click Help
The button is located near the button Window in the menu bar at the top of your screen. A drop-down menu will then appear.

Step 3. Click Check for Updates
This will open the Microsoft Update Assistant.

Step 4. Select Verify Manually
This option allows you to manually check for updates without having to schedule an automatic search.
- You could also select Automatically check, then select Everyday, Every week Where Every month. By doing this, Outlook will automatically check for updates.

Step 5. Click Check for Updates
The button is located in the lower right corner of the Update Assistant window. The program will check if an update is available.
- If Outlook finds an available update, you'll be asked whether you want to install it or ignore it.
- If there is no update available, you will receive a notification in a popup window. Click on OK to close it.
