If you forgot your Gmail password, you can try to recover it to access your account again. This action is possible on the mobile application or from the Gmail website.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Use the Gmail website

Step 1. Log into Gmail
In your web browser, connect to this page or type https://mail.google.com in the address bar.
If your email or phone number does not appear automatically, type it in the dedicated field and click Next

Step 2. Click Forgot Password?
This link is located under the field dedicated to the password.

Step 3. Type the last password you can remember
Then click on Next.
- If you can't remember the passwords you used before, click on Try another method under the gray box.
- Keep clicking Try another method until a question you can answer appears. Answer the question and click Next.

Step 4. Follow the on-screen instructions
You will be asked to go through one of the following steps:
- confirm the phone number associated with your Gmail account;
- confirm the email address associated with your Gmail account;
- confirm the email address of your recovery account if you have configured one;
- enter an email that you can consult immediately.

Step 5. Open the email or text message from Google

Step 6. Enter the verification code
Type in the field that appears on the screen the verification code received by email or text message.

Step 7. Choose a new password
Enter the new password the first time in the first field and then a second time in the second field to confirm it.

Step 8. Click Change Password

Step 9. Click Continue
Your password has been recovered and you can use it to sign in to Gmail.
- If you can't remember the last password you used, or if you haven't received a message to your associated phone number, email, or recovery account, you will be prompted to briefly explain why. prevent access to your account. Type your answer in the dedicated field then click on Submit.
- Google will get back to you after 3-5 business days.
Method 2 of 2: Use the Gmail app

Step 1. Open the Gmail app

Step 4. Enter an email address
In the dedicated field, enter the email address or phone number associated with your Gmail account.

Step 5. Tap Next
This option is located at the bottom right of the screen.

Step 6. Select Forgot Password?
This link can be found under the field dedicated to the password.

Step 7. Enter the last password you can remember
Then tap Next.
- If you can't remember the passwords you've used before, tap Try another method under the field dedicated to the password.
- Tap Try another method until you find a method that works for you. Enter the answer in the dedicated field then press Next.

Step 8. Follow the on-screen instructions
You will be invited to:
- confirm the phone number associated with your Gmail account;
- confirm the email address associated with your Gmail account;
- confirm the recovery account you have defined;
- enter an email address that you have access to.

Step 9. Open the email or message sent by Google

Step 10. Enter the verification code
In the dedicated field on your screen, type the confirmation code that was sent to you.

Step 11. Enter a new password
Confirm the new password in the next field.

Step 12. Tap Next

Step 13. Select Accept
Your password has been recovered and you will be able to sign in to Gmail again.
