Whether it's to chat with a loved one or retrieve an important attachment, you can check your Gmail inbox on a computer or mobile device. If you want to have simultaneous access to multiple accounts, you can add other accounts on your browser or mobile app after logging in. Remember that in order to access Gmail, you must have a Gmail account.
Method 1 of 5: Access Gmail on a desktop
Step 1. Open your web browser
You can open Gmail on any browser you want, be it Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc.
You'll need to open Gmail in Chrome if you want to use specific Gmail features, like offline messaging
Step 2. Log in to Gmail
Open this page on your web browser. The Gmail login page will appear.
Step 3. Enter your email address
Type your Gmail email address in the field Email address or phone number.
Step 4. Click NEXT
This blue button is located below the text field Email address or phone number and redirects to the password entry page.
Step 5. Enter your password
Type the password you use to sign in to your Gmail account.
Step 6. Click NEXT
This button is located below the field Password. Your inbox will open if the password and username are correct.
Method 2 of 5: Access Gmail on iPhone
Step 1. Open your iPhone's App Store
The App Store icon looks like a white "A" on a blue background.
Step 2. Tap Search
This option is at the bottom of the screen and opens the search page.
Step 3. Search for Gmail
Type gmail in the search bar at the top of the screen and then press the key. To research of the keyboard.
Step 4. Select GET
This button is to the right of the header Gmail: messaging according to Google.
Step 5. Use Touch ID when prompted
The Gmail app will be downloaded to your iPhone.
- If you don't have Touch ID on your iPhone, or if you don't use your fingerprint for App Store verification, select To install at the bottom of the screen before entering the password associated with your Apple ID.
Step 6. Open Gmail
Press on TO OPEN in the App Store or select the red and white app on one of your home screens.
Step 7. Press CONNECT
This option is at the bottom of the screen.
Step 8. Log in to Gmail
If you don't have an active Google account on your iPhone, select the option Google when prompted and do the following:
- enter your email address
- Press on FOLLOWING
- enter your Gmail password
- Press on FOLLOWING
- if there is a Google account listed on Gmail, skip the login step by pressing the white switch next to the account in question
Step 9. Wait for the messages to load
Once logged into Gmail, you will see your inbox appear after a few seconds.
Method 3 of 5: Access Gmail on Android
Step 1. Make sure the Gmail app is installed
Open the app drawer by pressing
on the home screen (on some Android you will have to slide the home page up) then look for the red and white Gmail app.
- Almost all Android devices have Gmail installed by default so you should easily find it in the app drawer.
- If for some reason Gmail is not installed on your device, go to the
Google Play Store, search for Gmail and then press TO INSTALL.
Step 2. Open Gmail
Tap the icon that looks like a red "M" on a white background.
Step 3. Tap GO TO GMAIL APPLICATION
This button is located at the bottom of the screen.
- If you are not signed in to the account you are interested in, select instead Add email address, Press on Google and enter your email address and password.
Step 4. Enter your password
If you are asked to enter your password, type it in the corresponding text field and press FOLLOWING.
This step is usually not necessary since you are already using a Google account to connect your Android
Step 5. Wait for the inbox to open
Your inbox will appear within seconds after you log into your account.
Method 4 of 5: Sign in to multiple accounts on a desktop computer
Step 1. Open Gmail
Go to this page in your browser. If you are already logged in, you will find your Gmail inbox.
Enter your email address and password if you are not yet logged in
Step 2. Click on your profile icon
It's the circular icon at the top right of the page. Click on it to open a drop-down menu.
Click on the colored circle with the first initial of your name if your account does not have a profile picture
Step 3. Select Add Account
This option is at the bottom left of the drop-down menu and displays a list of registered Google accounts.
Step 4. Click Use Another Account
This option is at the bottom of the list that appears.
To use an existing account, but which is disconnected, click on it and enter the corresponding password
Step 5. Enter the email address
Type the email address of the Gmail account you want to add when prompted.
Step 6. Click NEXT
This blue button is located below the text field Email address or phone number.
Step 7. Enter your password
Type the password you use to sign in to your Gmail.
Step 8. Select NEXT
This button is located below the text field Password and allows not only to add the account to the list of connected accounts, but also to open its inbox.
Step 9. Switch between accounts
If you want to log into your other account, click on the profile picture at the top right of the page and then, from the drop-down menu, select the account you want to open.
Method 5 of 5: Sign in to multiple accounts on mobile
Step 1. Open Gmail
The app icon looks like a red "M" on a white background. If you are logged in, it will open your Gmail inbox.
Enter your email address and password first if you are not logged in
Step 2. Press ☰
This button is located at the top left of the screen and opens a context menu.
Step 3. Select your current email address
It is at the top of the context menu and allows you to open a drop-down menu.
Step 4. Tap Manage Accounts
This option is in the drop-down menu and opens a new menu.
Step 5. Select Add Account
You will find this option in the menu.
Step 6. Tap Google
Google is at the top of the options list.
- You may be asked to allow Google to connect. In this case, select To continue Where TO ALLOW.
Step 7. Enter your email address
Type the email address of the account you want to use in the field Email address or phone number.
Step 8. Press NEXT
This button is located below the text field.
Step 9. Enter your password
Enter the password you use to log into your Gmail account.
Step 10. Press NEXT
This button is at the bottom of the page and not only allows you to add the account to the list of connected accounts, but also to open the inbox.
Step 11. Switch between accounts
Press on ☰, then tap the profile picture at the top of the menu to sign in to the other registered account.
