On Gmail, it is possible to download a copy of your contacts so that they can be added to another email service. To do this, you need to use the Google Contacts website on a computer.
Step 1. Go to the Google Contacts website
Go to https://contacts.google.com/ in your web browser. This will open your Gmail contacts by default if you are already signed in to a Gmail account. It is not possible to export contacts directly from Gmail.
If you are not already logged in, enter your email address and password before continuing
Step 2. Choose Go to old version
This button is located in the lower left corner of the page Contacts. As the new version of the app is not compatible with exporting contacts, you must use the old version of Contacts.
Step 3. Click More ▼
This button is at the very top of the page Contacts. A drop-down menu will appear.
Step 4. Select Export…
This option is located approximately halfway down the drop-down menu. More. This will open a popup window.
Step 5. Check the All Contacts box
Click on the circle to the left of the header All contacts to the top of the popup window.
Step 6. Choose an export format
Click on the circle to the left of one of the options below in the section What export format?
- Google CSV format: Select this option if you want to add these contacts to another Gmail account.
- Outlook CSV format: Select this option if you want to add these contacts to an Outlook, Yahoo, or other email service.
- vCard format: Select this option if you want to add these contacts to Apple Mail.
Step 7. Click Export
The contact folder will be downloaded to your computer. There you have it, you have successfully exported your Gmail contacts.
