You might want to dye your eyebrows for different reasons. If you are dyeing your hair, it will be best to dye your eyebrows as well, so that they are the same color. Or maybe, you have very light eyebrows and would like them to be fuller. The operation is quite simple and will make a big difference on your face. By learning how to tint your eyebrows yourself, you will save money and avoid going to the beauty salon.

Part 1 of 3: getting ready to dye your eyebrows

Tint Eyebrows Step 1

Step 1. Buy a dye kit

Go to the supermarket or beauty store and choose an eyebrow tint kit. This kit will contain everything you need to tint your eyebrows.

Think carefully about what color you want to use. The darker your hair, the darker the dye you will use. Blondes should avoid dyeing their eyebrows black, as the contrast will not be very successful

Step 2. Shape your brows into the desired shape

It is recommended that you shape your brows before tinting them. Use your usual method, whether with tweezers, wax, small scissors, etc. Do this the night before you want to dye your eyebrows.

Step 3. Cleanse your eyebrows

With makeup remover, remove all traces of makeup from your eyebrows and gently clean them with a wet cotton ball. Brush them with a small brush.

Step 4. Apply petroleum jelly (optional)

To prevent the dye from staining your skin, apply petroleum jelly all around your eyebrows.

Part 2 of 3: using the dye kit

Step 1. Mix the colors

Not all eyebrow kits contain the same products and do not prepare the same. Follow the instructions of the kit you have chosen, in order to properly mix the stain and the developer. Some kits contain a brown paste and a black paste. For dark eyebrows, squeeze a dab of each color onto a cardboard plate. For fairer eyebrows, just use a touch of brown. Also pour the indicated amount of developer, and mix the products.

  • Your kit might contain a container for mixing the products. In this case, use it. Otherwise, you can use any small glass or plate.
  • Some kits contain a spatula or wooden stick for mixing the components. You can use these utensils or a small brush.

Step 2. Apply the stain

Apply the tint to your eyebrows using an eyebrow brush. Use the applicator provided in your kit, it will probably be a wooden stick. Liberally coat your eyebrows with tint, from the inner corner to the outer corner. Focus on the middle part of the eyebrow first, then work your way back to the edges, focusing on the small hairs.

Step 3. Remove excess dye

If you didn't apply petroleum jelly to prevent the dye from staining your skin, you can use a cotton swab and eye makeup remover to clean the skin around your eyebrows. Gently run the cotton swab along your eyebrows to create a neat line.

Step 4. Apply tint to your eyelashes

This step is optional. If your eyelashes are light in color, you can tint them to look better with your freshly dyed eyebrows. Take your little bottle brush and fold it so that it is tilted. Dip it into the dye and gently apply the product to your lashes, being careful not to get any in your eyes.

Part 3 of 3: complete the process

Tint Eyebrows Step 9

Step 1. Leave the stain on

Read your kit instructions to determine the exposure time. Set an alarm and wait. It is very important that you watch the exposure time closely if you want both of your eyebrows to be the same color.

Step 2. Rinse off the product

Once the dye has worked, remove it with a wet cotton pad. Again, start at the inner corner and work your way to the outer corner. Carefully remove the dye, making sure there isn't any left between the hairs. You will need to press the cotton. Once the dye is removed, also remove the petroleum jelly.

Step 3. Repeat the process on the other eyebrow

Once you have removed all the tint from the first eyebrow, repeat the operation on the second. Make sure to apply the stain just as generously, leave it on for the same amount of time, and remove it entirely.

Step 4. Proudly sport your new eyebrows

  • If any dye spills onto your skin, wipe it off with a wet cotton pad.
  • Once you remove the dye, your eyebrows will be wet. If they look too dark, don't worry. Wait for them to dry before evaluating their color.
