You probably already know that drinking green tea is good for you, but did you know that you can use it on your skin too? You can use it to make your own skin care products and you can also add it to your favorite makeup remover to improve your complexion and fight acne. By putting green tea in your toner, mask, makeup remover, or steamer, you will achieve clearer, shinier skin in just one treatment.
Method 1 of 4: Make green tea tonic lotion
Step 1. Boil water in a saucepan or kettle
Heat on high until you see bubbles starting to rise up in the water from the bottom. Then remove the water from the heat source to prepare your tea.
The water doesn't have to boil. If she's boiling, that's okay. However, this does mean that your tea will take longer to brew and cool
Step 2. Put a green tea bag in a mug
Use a 240-350ml cup to steep the tea and get enough tonic lotion. Place the sachet at the bottom of the cup and wrap the string around one side of the container.
If you prefer to use tea leaves, you can pour between one and two tablespoons of it through a filter that you put in the cup
Step 3. Pour hot water over the sachet
Use a towel to protect your hands as you pour the water into the cup. Once it's full, place the pan on a cold burner or on a towel. Then gently swirl the sachet around the cup to dispense the green tea.
The water should immediately turn a cloudy green color
Step 4. Let steep for five to ten minutes
Thread the string of the tea bag or filter over the rim of the cup. Then wait five to ten minutes for the tea to steep. After this time, take the sachet out of the water and throw it away or save the leaves for further processing.
You can make yourself a mask with the infused leaves. See the recipe below for instructions on how to prepare it
Step 5. Wait for the green tea to cool, about half an hour
Don't put hot green tea on your face. Instead, set an alarm for half an hour and let the cup cool. Then touch the tea by dipping your fingertip in it to make sure it has cooled enough.
You can use it even if it is still a little warm
for a quick beauty treatment, rub the cold green tea bag on your face. Then let your skin dry before rinsing. It helps reduce redness, brighten your complexion and treat acne.
Step 6. Add five to ten drops of tea tree oil
Although this step is optional, it can help you treat oily skin or acne. Simply hold the bottle of tea tree oil over the cup and let five to ten drops run through it. Stir gently to combine the ingredients.
You can find tea tree essential oil at an organic food store or online
Step 7. Pour the cold tea into a clean bottle
Use a spray bottle or an airtight container to store your tonic lotion. Hold it over the sink and pour the green tea into it from the cup. Finally, screw on the cap.
if you have a funnel, use it to transfer the tonic lotion into the bottle without getting it all over the place.
Step 8. Apply the lotion with your fingers after cleansing your skin
Pour some in your hand, then rub it on your face with your fingers. Apply more lotion if needed to cover your entire face.
- If you are using a spray bottle, you can apply it directly to your face.
- Use it once or twice a day after washing your face.
Method 2 of 4: Using a steam treatment with green tea
Step 1. Pour boiling water into a bowl on the table
Heat a pot of water until you see bubbles rising to the surface. Then remove the water from the heat and pour it into a heat-resistant bowl. Use a towel or pot holders to place the bowl on the table in front of the chair.
Pour in the boiling water carefully so as not to burn yourself
Step 2. Cut out the tea bag and pour the leaves into the water
Use a pair of scissors to pry open the pouch or tear it off with your fingers. Then scatter the leaves in the water. They will start to brew immediately.
Use whatever leaves you have for best results
if you prefer, you can simply soak the sachet in water. This will make cleaning easier, but the solution will not be as effective because the leaves will not come in contact with all the water.
Step 3. Let it steep for one to two minutes before using it
The green tea will continue to brew while you use the steam for the treatment. However, it would be better if you wait a minute or two to reap the full benefits of green tea as soon as you use the steam. Plus, it gives the water more time to cool down a bit so it doesn't burn you. Watch your watch or set an alarm while you wait.
You should see the water change color as the tea brews in it
Step 4. Pass a towel over your head and lean over the bowl
Place a large bath towel on the back of your head and on your shoulders. Then lean over it so that your face is in direct contact with the steam. The towel will trap the steam around your face so it can treat your skin.
- Make sure the towel falls all the way around the bowl to catch all of the steam.
- If you are too hot, lift it up to release some steam.
Step 5. Continue the treatment for five to ten minutes
Hold your face over the bowl for up to ten minutes. Take a deep breath and try to relax as if you were at the spa. This will give the steam enough time to penetrate your skin and remove impurities from it.
- If you start to feel hot, you can stop earlier.
- You better take a look at your watch to find out how long you are steaming your face.
Step 6. Rinse it with cool water to remove impurities
After the steaming, go to the sink and turn on the cold water tap. Spray it on your face to wash away the sweat and impurities the steam has drawn from your skin.
If you wish, you can also wash your face with a cleanser in the form of a cream. However, it is not mandatory
Step 7. Dry your face with a soft, clean towel
Use a bath or face towel to gently pat your face dry. Then you can continue with your usual facials.
Repeat up to once a week
Method 3 of 4: Make a green tea mask
Step 1. Mix green tea leaves with honey
Let a cup of green tea steep, then remove the bag and let cool. Cut out the bag and pour the leaves into a bowl. Add about a tablespoon of honey to the leaves and stir to create a paste. Apply it to your clean, relaxed face, then let sit for a quarter of an hour before rinsing off with warm water.
- Continue the treatment with your favorite moisturizer.
- This mask exfoliates the skin, reduces redness and treats acne.
- Repeat the treatment up to once a week.
Step 2. Combine green tea, coconut oil, honey and lemon juice
Pour a tablespoon of green tea leaf, two tablespoons of honey, a tablespoon of coconut oil and two tablespoons of lemon juice in a bowl. Then mix with a whisk or a spoon to combine the ingredients until you get a smooth paste. Apply to your face with your fingers, then relax for five to ten minutes. Finally, rinse off the mask with lukewarm water.
- Apply a moisturizer after rinsing it off.
- This mask moisturizes and nourishes the skin when stressed or after a sunburn.
- Apply the mask once or twice a week.
Step 3. Prepare a green tea and rice leaf mask
Brew green tea, then pour it onto a small baking sheet. Place the rice paper in the green tea, making sure it is completely saturated. Let it soak for a minute or two, then take it out of the green tea. Lay the rice paper on your face and relax for ten to fifteen minutes before removing it. Do not rinse your face yet.
- This mask helps fight against inflammation and aging while hydrating the skin.
- Continue the treatment with your favorite moisturizer.
- Repeat application once or twice a week for best results.
Step 4. Prepare a green tea and yogurt mask
Steep a green tea bag for five minutes. Take out the tea bag and let cool. Then add a tablespoon of wet green tea leaves to a bowl. Pour about a tablespoon of whole yogurt into the bowl and mix the ingredients. Apply the mask with your fingers on your clean face and relax for half an hour. Then moisten the mask with lukewarm water and rub it with your fingers.
- After rinsing your face, apply your favorite moisturizer.
- Repeat at most once a week.
Method 4 of 4: Add green tea to a cleanser
Step 1. Empty a green tea bag into a small bowl
You're not going to steep it before you use it. Cut or open a green tea bag, then pour it into the bowl.
You can also simply use green tea leaves. Pour between one and two tablespoons in the bowl
Step 2. Add a tablespoon of facial cleansing cream
You can use any type of cream. Use a measuring spoon for the cleansing cream and pour it into the bowl.
It would be better if you use one that is fragrance free, as the green tea will give it a little fragrance
Step 3. Mix the two ingredients to combine them
Use a spoon or your finger to stir them. The mixture is ready when the green tea leaves are dispersed throughout the cleansing cream.
Step 4. Use your fingers to apply the cleanser to your face
Take the cream with your fingers and apply it to your skin. Rub gently in circles with your fingers. Make sure to completely cover your face with an even layer of cream.
This will gently exfoliate your skin while cleansing it
Step 5. Let sit for five minutes for better exfoliation
Although this step is optional, you can leave the cream in place just like you would a mask to remove dead skin cells. The mask will soften the dead skin cells which you will then eliminate by rinsing them. Sound an alarm after five minutes and relax for best results.
If you can't wait five minutes, you can immediately wash the cream off your face. However, if you leave it on for a bit, you will get better results
Step 6. Moisten with lukewarm water and scrub
Spray your face with lukewarm water, then use your fingertips to rub the cream in circles. Rinse your skin well with lukewarm water to completely remove the mask.
You can reapply the green tea cleansing cream daily if you wish. However, just leave it on for five minutes once or twice a week. Otherwise, you could stress your skin
- If you continue to use green tea and get used to it, you will get refreshed, clean skin. You will notice better results if you use it for longer.
- You can also improve the beauty of your skin by drinking green tea every day. Drink it twice a day for best results.
