Discord allows you to exchange text messages, audio messages or make video calls like most messaging applications. You can also use it to send files. If you have an iPhone or iPad, it's relatively easy to install, configure, and use.
Steps
Part 1 of 6: Install the Discord app

Step 1. Open the App Store

Tap the App Store icon, which looks like a blue icon with an "A" in the middle. You will find it on your home screen.

Step 2. Tap Search
This button (which also includes a magnifying glass) is located at the bottom of the screen in the lower right corner.

Step 3. Search for Discord
Type discord in the search field and then press To research at the bottom right of the keyboard.

Step 4. Select Get
This button is located to the right of the Discord app. It's the blue icon with an image that looks like a video game controller with a face on it.

Step 5. Enter your Touch ID, Face ID, or Apple ID
Scan your fingerprint or face to download the Discord app to your iPhone or Pad.
- If you are using your Apple ID, you will need to tap To install before the application is downloaded.
Part 2 of 6: Create an account

Step 1. Open Discord
If you're still on the App Store's Discord page, tap To open. Otherwise, tap the blue or purple icon with a white video game controller (marked "Discord") on your home screen.

Step 2. Tap Subscribe
It's the button at the bottom of the screen.
- If you already have a Discord account, tap Log in. Next, enter your email address and password and press Log in.

Step 3. Enter your account details
You will need to complete the registration form by following the steps below.

Username: tap the text field What should everyone call you?
then type your preferred username. If the username is already taken, you will be prompted to choose a different one.
- Email address: tap the text field E-mail then type a working email address.
- Password: tap the text field Password then type the password you want to use.

Step 4. Select Next
It's the purple button below the form.

Step 5. Enter your birthday
Tap the field under Date of birth and then scroll through the months, days, and years in the menu until your birthday is highlighted in the center.

Step 6. Tap Create Account
The purple Create an account button is below the line with your birthday. Then you will have the option to create a new server. If you receive an invitation from a friend, you can press Join a friend on Discord at the bottom of the screen.
Part 3 of 6: Add friends

Step 1. Request your friend's username and tag
You will need your friend's username and tag to be able to send them a friend request. The tag is the four-digit number visible after the hashtag (#) following the username.

Step 2. Press ☰
It's the three horizontal line icon at the top right. Press it to display the menu.

Step 3. Tap the silhouette icon
It's the blue button at the top of the menu on the left. It displays the friend's menu.

Step 4. Select Add Friend
The Add Friend button is purple and is in the center of the page.

Step 5. Enter your friend's username and tag
Start with your friend's username. Next, enter a hashtag followed by the four-digit tag (for example "username # 1234").
Usernames are case sensitive, so be sure to spell them correctly

Step 6. Tap Send Friend Request
It's the purple button at the bottom of the form. Tap it to send a request, and if the friend accepts your request, they will be added to your Friends list.
Part 4 of 6: Create a server

Step 1. Press ☰
It's the three horizontal line icon in the upper right corner. It displays the menu.

Step 2. Press

This is the plus (+) icon inside a circle. You will find it in the left panel and it will allow you to open a context menu.

Step 3. Select Create mine or a server template
Press on Create mine at the top of the screen to create a new server. You can also tap any of the templates to create a "Gaming", "Friends", "Study Group", "Artists and Creators", "Clubs" and "Local Community" server.

Step 4. Choose For a club or a community
You can also choose For me and my friends if you want. This indicates the type of server you want to create.

Step 5. Type a name for your server
Tap the field Server name then use the keyboard to type in the name of your server. Press on Ended when you are done.
- If you want to upload a photo that you will use as the server's profile picture, tap the icon that looks like a camera with a plus sign (+) at the top of the screen. Press on Allow access to photos, and then tap the photo you want to use.

Step 6. Tap Create Server
It's the purple button below the field. Tap on it to create a new server.

Step 7. Add a theme for your server
Tap the field under Theme and use the keyboard to type a few words that describe your server. Press on Ended when you are done.

Step 8. Tap Redirect me to my server
It's the purple button below the field with your themes. You will be redirected to your server.
Part 5 of 6: Join a server

Step 1. Request a server address or invitation code
You can get them by asking a friend who uses Discord, or by searching the internet for Discord servers that match your gaming preferences.
- When you get a URL or code, you can copy it to your clipboard so you can easily paste it into Discord. To copy it, highlight the entire code or URL with your finger, keep your finger on the screen and select To copy.

Step 2. Press ☰
This button is located at the top left of the screen and displays a context menu.

Step 3. Press +
It's the button with a dotted circle in the left sidebar. Tap on it to open a pop-up menu.
- If you have received an invitation, tap the blue icon Friends at the top of the menu on the left. Tap the person who sent you the invitation under Direct messages. Select Join at the bottom of the direct message you received.

Step 4. Select Join Server
This option is at the bottom of the menu.

Step 5. Enter your invitation link
You can copy and paste the link into the Invitation Link field.

Step 6. Choose Join Server
The Attach Server option is at the bottom of the screen. Tap on it to join the server and add the server shortcut to the left of the Discord screen.
- Select the server to view the available text and voice chat channels.
- To join a room, tap its name in the room list.
Part 6 of 6: Create a living room

Step 1. Press the ☰ button
These are the three horizontal lines at the top right. This button displays the menu.

Step 2. Press +
The plus (+) icon can be found to the left of Text Lounge and Voice Lobby in the menu. You can choose the option you want since both have the same procedure.

Step 3. Enter a name for your living room
Use the field under Salon name to type a name for your salon.

Step 4. Select Text Room or Voice Room
This indicates the type of room that will be created. A text-based room allows users to communicate by typing messages into a chat. Voice chats allow them to communicate using a microphone and a headset.

Step 5. Choose Create
This is the option at the top right of the screen. Tap on it to create the living room. You can access it at any time by opening the server, tapping on the existing lounge, and then selecting the new lounge from the drop-down menu.
