Converting a Word file to a JPEG image can be useful if you need to quickly view it in any medium or if you want to share your documents more easily. The process can be performed on a Windows computer or a Mac.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Convert Word document on Windows

Step 1. Open the Word document
Double-click on the document you want to convert to JPEG to open it in Microsoft Word.

Step 2. Click File
This option is located at the top left of the Word window and opens a context menu.

Step 3. Select Save As
Save as can be found in the context menu on the left of the page.

Step 4. Double-click This PC
This option is in the middle of the page and opens the file explorer window.

Step 5. Choose a save location
On the left part of the window, click on the folder where you want to save your converted Word file.
- For example, if you want to save the file to the desktop, select Office.

Step 6. Expand the Save as type field
It's at the bottom of the window and opens a drop-down menu.

Step 7. Select PDF
The option PDF can be found in the drop-down menu.
You cannot directly convert Word document to JPEG file, but you can convert PDF to JPEG

Step 8. Click Save
This option is located at the bottom right of the window. Click on it to save your Word file as a PDF in the selected location.

Step 9. Install the PDF to JPEG converter
This app is free in the Microsoft Store.
- Open
, type store then click on Microsoft Store at the top of the menu.
- Click on To research.
- Type pdf to jpeg then press Enter.
- Select the icon PDF to JPEG black and white.
- Click on Get at the top left of the window.

Step 10. Open PDF to JPEG
Click on To throw when prompted or open the start menu

, type pdf to jpeg then select PDF to JPEG in search results.

Step 11. Click Select File
This option is at the top of the window and opens the File Explorer window.

Step 12. Open your PDF
Go to the location where your PDF is located, click on it and select To open at the bottom right of the window. The PDF will open in the PDF to JPEG converter.

Step 13. Select a save location
Click on Select a folder at the top of the converter window, choose the folder in which you want to save the converted JPEG file and click on Select a folder at the bottom right.

Step 14. Click Convert
The option Convert is at the top of the window. Click on it to convert your PDF to a JPEG file and save it in the selected location.
Method 2 of 3: Convert Word document on Mac

Step 1. Open the Word document
Double click on the document you want to convert to JPEG. It will open in Microsoft Word.

Step 2. Click File
File is located at the top left of your Mac screen.

Step 3. Select Save As
This option is at the top of the drop-down menu File.

Step 4. Expand the Format field
It sits in the middle of the window Save as and allows you to view the different file formats available.

Step 5. Choose PDF
The option PDF is in the middle of the drop-down menu.
A DOC (Word) file is not directly convertible to a JPEG file, whereas a PDF file is

Step 6. Click Save
It's the blue button at the bottom right of the window. Click on it to save your file in PDF format. The new file should be on the desktop.

Step 7. Open the PDF file in Preview
To be able to save the PDF as JPEG, you will need to go through the Preview application on the Mac, as not all third-party PDF applications have this functionality.
- Click once on the PDF file.
- Select File at the top of the screen.
- Choose Open with from the drop-down menu.
- Click on Overview.

Step 8. Click File
This option is located at the top left of the screen. Click on it to open a drop-down menu.

Step 9. Select Export
Export is in the middle of the drop-down menu.

Step 10. Click Format
This is the box at the bottom of the page Export.

Step 11. Choose JPEG
This will allow you to save the PDF version of the Word document as a JPEG.
- You will see a cursor appear under the box Format. Drag it to the right to increase the quality of your JPEG and to the left to decrease it. This option can be useful if you want a smaller file size (but lower quality).

Step 12. Click Save
This option is located at the bottom right of the screen and allows you to save the Word document in JPEG format.
Method 3 of 3: Use an online converter

Step 1. Open the Word-to-JPEG converter
Log in to this page on your preferred web browser. Word-to-JPEG is a free website that converts Word and PDF files to JPEG format.

Step 2. Click SELECT
It's the green button in the center of the page.

Step 3. Select a Word document and then click Open
A thumbnail of the file will appear under the button TO SELECT.
If your Word document contains more than one page, this tool will create a separate JPEG for each page

Step 4. Click DOWNLOAD
This button is located below the thumbnail and downloads a ZIP folder containing the image to your computer.
- You may need to select a save location first before clicking Save Where OK.

Step 5. Start extracting the ZIP folder
The extraction process varies depending on whether you are using a Windows computer or a Mac.
- If you are using a Windows computer: double click on the ZIP folder, click Extract at the top of the window, select Extract all then choose Extract all when prompted.
- If you are using a Mac: double click on the ZIP folder and wait for the extraction to complete.

Step 6. Open your JPEG file
In the extracted folder, you will see a JPEG file for each page of the converted Word document. Double-click a JPEG file to open it in your computer's default photo program.
