You can remove your name from a photo, video, status update, or location confirmation that you've been tagged with on Facebook. Posts with your name appear on your page, but they will disappear once you remove the ID. This can be done on the mobile app and on the website. You can also adjust your identification settings to prevent posts in which you are identified from automatically appearing on your Facebook page.

Steps

Part 1 of 2: Withdraw identification

On Mobile

This button is either at the bottom right of the screen (on iPhone) or at the top right (on Android).

Step 3. Select your name

The tab with your name is at the top of the menu and allows you to view your profile page.

Step 4. Find the publication that interests you

It could be a photo, status update, or confirmation of a local address.

This button is located at the top right of a post.

Step 6. Choose Remove ID

You'll find this option at the top of the drop-down menu.

Step 7. Select OK at the command prompt

Your name will be removed from the post which will be removed from your Facebook page.

The post will still be visible to other people if they are friends with the user who posted it or if it is public

On a desktop computer

Step 1. Go to the Facebook website

Log in to https://www.facebook.com in your preferred browser. If you are already signed in to your account, you will see your news feed.

If you are not yet logged in to Facebook, first enter your email address (or phone number) and then your password

You'll find this option at the bottom of the drop-down menu.

Step 4. Select Posts in which you are identified

This tab is located at the top left of the page.

It is possible that this tab just bears the mention "Publications in which …"

Step 5. Click on the pencil icon next to the post

All posts in which you have been identified appear on this page. Click on the pencil icon to the right of the one you no longer want to appear in.

You may need to scroll down the page to find the post you're interested in

This option is at the bottom of the drop-down menu.

Then click on Continue. This option is to ensure that you will not have to provide any further information.

This option is in the middle of the page.

The identification will be removed from the post which will no longer appear on your Facebook page.

Other users will still be able to see the photo if they are friends with the person who posted it or if the photo is public

Part 2 of 2: Adjust the identification parameters

On mobile

This button is located at the bottom right of the screen (on iPhone) or at the top right (on Android).

and you'll be able to review the posts you're tagged with before they appear on your Facebook page.

Posts you are tagged with will still be visible to friends of the person who posted them

On a desktop computer

Click on To modify to the right of the Review posts you're tagged with before they appear in your journal at the top of the page.

If the field says Enabled, it means your exam settings are already enabled

This will help you review posts that people identify with before they appear on your Facebook page.

Posts will remain visible to friends of the person who posted them

Advice

  • You can also delete the posts in your news feed on a desktop computer by clicking

    at the top right of the publication, by clicking on Remove identification then confirming your decision at the command prompt.

  • You cannot remove an ID in comments.

Warnings

  • Unless you delete the photo completely, it will still be visible in the News Feed or other places on Facebook. You may also be identified again on it.
  • If you want the photo to disappear completely, ask the person who posted it to remove it. If she refuses, contact Facebook.
