With Facebook, you can send a message to more than one person, using the chat group feature where all participants have access to the same conversation. You can create a discussion group on the Facebook site or through the Facebook Messenger application.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Use Messenger

Step 1. Log into the Messenger app with your Facebook account

You cannot send messages through the Facebook app. For this, you should use the Messenger app instead. Messages sent through the Messenger application can be read in Messenger or on the Facebook site.

Step 2. Select the New Message button

On Android, press the button + in the lower right corner and then select To write a message. On iOS, select the button New message in the upper right corner. The button is represented by a paper and pencil icon.

Step 3. Add someone to the conversation

Type the name of the first person you want to add to the conversation. By typing the name, you will see at the bottom the names of your friends corresponding to the first letters you typed. Select the person you want to add.

Step 4. Add more people to create a discussion group

After adding the first person, continue typing the first few letters of the second person's name, then select the person from the list of results that appears and continue this way until you have added all the people you want to send to the message.

Step 5. Type the message you want to send to the group

Select the field To write a message after you have added all the group participants, then start writing the message. You can select the various options above the text field to insert items such as photos, emoticons, animated GIFs, and more into your message.

Step 6. Send the message

After typing the message, send it by pressing the button Send. On Android devices, the Send looks like a paper airplane. All participants in the group will receive the message and each response will be sent to the entire group.

Step 7. Change the name of the newsgroup

The Messenger app allows you to change the name of the chat group. By default, the group name is the list of group participants. The name change process varies slightly depending on whether you are using an Android or iOS device.

  • On Android, open the chat group and tap the ⓘ button in the top right corner. Press the ⋮ button and then select Change name. Enter the new name for the newsgroup.
  • In iOS, open the newsgroup and then select the current group name at the top of the screen. Press on To modify in the upper right corner and select Change name, and then type the new name for the newsgroup.

Method 2 of 2: Use the Facebook site

Step 1. Log in to the Facebook site with your Facebook account

Make sure to sign in with the account you want to use to send the message to the group.

Step 2. Select the New Message button in the lower right corner

This button is located below your friends list. If the friend list is minimized, you will find the button in the minimized chat window.

  • If you want to add people to an existing chat, press the gear button in the chat window and then select Add friends to discussion.

Step 3. Add people to the group

Start typing the names of the friends you want to add to the group. You can select people from the list of results that appear as you type the names. You can add as many friends as you want to the group.

  • To remove a person you have added from the group, click on the X near his name in the field TO.

Step 4. Type your message

You can type the message you want to send to the group in the text field. Click the emoticon button to insert an emoticon into the message or click the photo button or paper clip button, to insert a photo or attached file from your computer.
