The process for setting Chrome as the default browser depends on the operating system. If it is possible to do this from the browser settings, it is best to use the system settings to make sure the changes are saved. You can change the default browser on Windows, Mac OS, and Android. If you have an iOS device, you will need to jailbreak it. To change your search engine, click Settings > Safari > Search engine and choose between Google, Yahoo or Bing.
Steps
Method 1 of 5: Use Chrome on Windows 10

Step 1. Install Chrome
Install Chrome if you haven't installed it yet. You'll need to install Chrome before you can use it as your default browser. Download it by going to google.com/chrome/ from Edge and clicking To download. Launch the installer file to install Chrome.

Step 2. Open the Start menu
Open the Start menu and click or tap Settings. The button looks like a star wheel.

Step 3. Select System
Select System in the menu Settings. A window with other system parameters will appear.

Step 4. Click or tap Default apps
You will find it in the menu on the left of the window.

Step 5. Select Web Browser
All the browsers installed on your computer will be displayed.

Step 6. Choose Google Chrome
Chrome will automatically open the links and HTML files you select on your computer.

Step 7. Use the control panel
Use the control panel if your settings have not been saved. Some users claim that their choice of default browser is not saved by Windows. If so, open the Control Panel and follow the steps in the next section to set Chrome as the default browser.
- You can open the Control Panel by right-clicking the Start button and selecting Control panel.
Method 2 of 5: Use Chrome on Windows 8, 7, and Vista

Step 1. Install Chrome
You'll need to install Chrome before you can set it as your default browser. You can download it from google.com/chrome/ from Internet Explorer.

Step 2. Open the control panel
You will find it in the Start menu. On Windows 8, right click on To start up and select Control panel or type Control panel on the start screen.

Step 3. Select Default Programs
If category view is selected, first click Programs.

Step 4. Click Configure Default Programs
The list of programs will be displayed after a few seconds.

Step 5. Select Google Chrome
Select Google chrome in the list of programs. You may have to scroll down to find it.

Step 6. Click Set this program as the default program
Chrome will become the default program for all your links and HTML files.
Method 3 of 5: Use Chrome on Mac OS

Step 1. Install Chrome
Install Chrome if you haven't installed it yet. You will need to install Google Chrome before you can set it as your default browser. Go to google.com/chrome/ and click on To download at the very top of the screen.

Step 2. Launch the installation file
Launch the installer file after the download is complete. To install Chrome, click on the DMG file in the folder Downloads then drag and drop the Google Chrome icon into the folder Applications. You will be able to delete the DMG file after the installation is complete.

Step 3. Click on the Apple menu
Click on the Apple menu and select System Preferences. Once Chrome is installed, you can set it as your default browser in the menu System Preferences.

Step 4. Select the General heading
You will find it in the menu System Preferences.

Step 5. Click Default web browser
Click on Default web browser and select Google Chrome. Chrome will be set as the default browser for all your web links and HTML files.
Method 4 of 5: Use Chrome on Android

Step 1. Make sure Chrome is installed
You need to have Chrome installed before you can set it as your default browser. You can download it from the Google Play Store.

Step 2. Open the Settings app
You'll find it on one of your home screens or in the app launcher. You can open the app launcher by tapping the grid-shaped button at the bottom of your home screen.

Step 3. Select Applications
Select Applications Where Application manager. All the apps installed on your Android device will be displayed.

Step 4. Find your default browser
Find and tap the browser that natively allows you to open your links. If it is preinstalled on your device, drag the list of apps to the tab All.
Most default browsers are marked "Browser" or "Internet"

Step 5. Tap Clear Default Actions
Scroll down the app page to find this option. On Android 6.0+, you must first press Start by default.

Step 6. Tap a link in an email
Tap a link in an email or on a web page. Once the default actions are removed, you will need to find and tap on a link on a website or on an online file. You'll find it in your emails, in your friends' messages, but you can also open a browser and tap a link.

Step 7. Select Google Chrome from the list of applications
You will see all the browsers installed on your device in the list of available applications. Tap Google Chrome.

Step 8. Select Always
Select always to set Chrome as your default browser. Chrome will now open all the links and HTML files you select on your Android device.
Method 5 of 5: Use Chrome on iOS

Step 1. Unbridle your iOS device
Jailbreaking is the only way to set another default browser on iOS. This will not be possible if you are using the latest version of iOS. For more details on jailbreaking an iOS device, read this article.

Step 2. Open Cydia on your jailbroken device
Cydia is a package manager for your jailbroken device. It allows you to install a variety of tweaks and apps specifically aimed at jailbroken devices. You will find it on one of your home screens after jailbreaking.

Step 3. Use the search function
Use the search function and search Open in Chrome.
This is a tweak allowing to modify the default browser. It is available by default in the Cydia Store (the Cydia Store).

Step 4. Tap Install
Press on To install to download and install the tweak. Your device will restart to complete the installation process.

Step 5. Open the Settings app
"Open in Chrome" will bring up a new option in the application Settings.

Step 6. Make sure Open in Chrome is enabled
Make sure the switch is in the ON position in the section Open in Chrome. Chrome will become your default browser.

Step 7. Tap a link
Tap a link to open Chrome by default. With Open in Chrome enabled, any links you select will automatically open in Chrome. This will be the case for links in emails, in messages, in applications, on websites and for all other links.
