If you're having trouble with Google Chrome, the easiest solution to fixing the problem might be to reinstall it. To reinstall Google Chrome, you will need to uninstall it first, then download the latest version file from the Chrome website. If Chrome was present by default on your Android device, you might not be able to reinstall it there.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: In Windows

Step 1. Open the Control Panel
Before reinstalling Google Chrome, you must uninstall the original copy. You can do this on the Control panel.
- Windows 10 and 8.1: right click on the button Windows, then select Control panel.
- Windows 8: press ⊞ Win + X, then select Control panel.
- Windows 7 and Vista: open the menu To start up, then select Control panel.

Step 2. Select Uninstall a program or Programs and Features
The name depends on the display mode you are using. This option will open the list of installed programs.

Step 3. Find Google Chrome in the list of installed programs
The list should by default be organized in alphabetical order.

Step 4. Select Google Chrome, then click Uninstall
You will find the button Uninstall above the list of programs once you have selected one.

Step 5. Select the Also delete browsing data check box
This will allow you to completely delete your data before installing a new copy of Chrome.

Step 6. Enable hidden files in Windows Explorer
To eradicate data from Chrome completely, you will need to enable showing hidden files:
- open it Control panel and select Folder options;
- click on the tab Display and tick Show hidden files, folders and drives;
- uncheck Hide protected operating system files.

Step 7. Delete the remaining Chrome files
Now that the hidden files are visible, find and delete the following folders on your computer:
- C: \ Users \ AppData \ Local \ Google \ Chrome;
- C: \ Program Files \ Google \ Chrome;
- only on XP: C: \ Documents and Settings \ Local Settings \ Application Data \ Google \ Chrome.

Step 8. Go to the Chrome website from another browser
Open Internet Explorer or another browser installed on your computer, then go to google.com/chrome.

Step 9. Highlight Download at the top of the page
Then select For a personal computer. You will be taken to the Chrome download page.

Step 10. Click Download Chrome to download the Chrome installer file
The correct version for Windows should download.
- Chrome will download the 32-bit version of the browser by default. If you want to use the 64-bit version on your 64-bit operating system, select Download Chrome for another platform and select Windows 10 / 8.1 / 8/7 64-bit.

Step 11. Familiarize yourself with the terms of use and run the installation file
Chrome will display the browser terms of use. It will also be configured as the default browser once the installation is complete, which you can change by unchecking the corresponding box.

Step 12. Click Accept and Install to begin downloading the necessary files
You will see a few small windows open and close.

Step 13. Click Run if prompted by Windows
This will allow your computer to download the installation files from Google.

Step 14. Wait while Chrome installs
The necessary files will download and the Google Chrome installation file will launch. This installer file will download more files and then start installing Chrome once the download is complete.
If you have trouble running the installer file online, download and run the alternative installer file from Google

Step 15. Launch Chrome
When you launch Chrome after installing it, you may be asked to select your default browser. Choose either Chrome or another browser installed on your browser and which is in the list, in order to set the default browser for your computer.

Step 16. Log into Chrome using your Google account (optional)
When Chrome opens, you are taken to the login page. Signing in to Chrome with your Google Account will allow you to sync your bookmarks, extensions, themes, saved passwords, and other form data. You don't need to do this in order to use Chrome.
Method 2 of 4: On a Mac

Step 1. Open your Applications folder
Before reinstalling Chrome, you must remove the old version. You will find the latter in the folder Applications.

Step 2. Find the Google Chrome app
It could be in the folder Applications or it could have been moved to another folder.

Step 3. Drag Google Chrome to the Trash
Drag this app into the Basket in order to delete it from your computer.

Step 4. Delete your profile data
If you want to completely remove data from Chrome before reinstalling, you need to find and delete your profile. You will therefore delete your preferences, bookmarks and history.
- Click on the menu Go and select Go to files.
- Enter ~ / Library / Google and click Go.
- Slide the folder GoogleSoftwareUpdate in the Basket.

Step 5. Go to the Google Chrome website from Safari
Open Safari or another browser installed on your device, then go to google.com/chrome.

Step 6. Select Download, and then click For Personal Computer
You will be redirected to the Chrome download page.

Step 7. Click Download Chrome to download the installation file for Mac
You will need to agree to the terms of use for the download to begin.

Step 8. Open the file “googlechrome
dmg”once it has downloaded.
It may take a few minutes to download.

Step 9. Drag the Google Chrome icon. app to the Applications icon
Google Chrome will then be installed in your folder Applications.

Step 10. Launch Google Chrome from the Applications folder
If prompted, click To open to confirm that you want to run it.

Step 11. Sign in to Chrome with your Google account (optional)
When you start Chrome for the first time, you are asked to identify yourself with your Google Account. This will allow you to sync your bookmarks, settings, themes, and extensions. You don't need to do this to start using Chrome.
Method 3 of 4: In iOS

Step 1. Press and hold the Chrome icon on your home screen
After a while, the icons will start to flutter.

Step 2. Tap the X in the corner of the Chrome icon
You will be asked to confirm that you want to completely delete Chrome and all of its data.

Step 3. Press the home button to exit application removal mode
The app icons will stop waving and you will again be able to open apps.

Step 4. Open the App Store
Once Chrome has been deleted, you can download it again from the App Store.

Step 5. Search for Google Chrome
It should appear first in your app search results.

Step 6. Tap Get, then tap Install
The download from Chrome to your iOS device will begin. You may be asked to enter your Apple ID password before the download begins.

Step 7. Launch the Chrome application
Once the app installation is complete, you can launch it by tapping the Chrome icon on your home screen. The Chrome browser will then open.
Method 4 of 4: Android

Step 1. Open the Settings app
You can uninstall Chrome from the Apps screen. Settings of your device. You will not be able to uninstall Chrome if it was present by default on your Android.

Step 2. Select Apps or Applications
The list of applications installed on your Android device will then open.

Step 3. Tap Chrome on the Apps screen
The screen containing the information of the Chrome application will then open.

Step 4. Tap Uninstall or Uninstall Updates
If you see the option Uninstall, you will be given the option to completely remove Chrome from your device. On the other hand, if you see Uninstall updates is that Chrome was present by default on your device and that you can only uninstall the updates that came as and when.

Step 5. Once you have uninstalled Chrome, open the Google Play Store
Once Chrome is deleted, you can download it again from the Play Store.

Step 6. Search for Chrome
Google Chrome should appear first in the results list.

Step 7. Press the Install or Update button
If you were able to remove Chrome completely, press the button To install to download the brand new version to your device. If all you could do was remove the updates, tap Update in order to download and install the latest updates.

Step 8. Launch Chrome
You will find Chrome in your device's App Drawer. Depending on your settings, you might find an app shortcut on your home screen.
