You can change the Google Chrome icon on a Mac or Windows computer. Both platforms allow you to change the app icon. You can choose the old Google Chrome 3D icon or use your own logo.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Use Windows 10

Step 1. Click on the Windows Start menu

It's the Windows logo in the taskbar. By default, it is in the lower left corner of the screen.

Step 2. Type Chrome
Windows will search for and display Google Chrome at the top of the Start menu. Download the old Google Chrome 3D icon by typing "old Google Chrome icon" into the Google Images search box.

Step 3. Right click on Google Chrome

This is the red, yellow, and green wheel icon with a blue dot in the middle.

Step 4. Select Open file location
This will open the folder that contains Google Chrome.
- If you do not find this option in the menu that appears after a right click, click on More to see more menu options.

Step 5. Right click on Google Chrome
When the folder that contains Google Chrome opens, right click on Google chrome in the file. This will open another menu.

Step 6. Click Properties
This option is at the bottom of the menu that appears when you right-click on the Google Chrome application.

Step 7. Go to the Shortcut tab
You'll find it at the top in the Properties window.

Step 8. Choose Change Icon
This option is at the bottom of the Properties window under Shortcut.

Step 9. Select an icon or click Browse
Click one of the icons in the list to select it. If you want to choose your own icon, click Browse then go to the folder where you saved your icon, click on it before choosing To open.
If you are using your own image, make sure it is in.ico format. If not, use this website to convert it

Step 10. Click OK
This button is located at the bottom of the Change Icon window. Click on it to confirm your selection.

Step 11. Choose Apply
Your changes will be saved and the new icon will appear in the Start menu as well as in the taskbar.
- If the changes do not appear in the taskbar right away, close the Google Chrome application and relaunch it.
- If the Google Chrome icon on your desktop doesn't change right away, right-click on it and select To delete. Next, locate Google Chrome in the Start menu and then drag its icon to your desktop to create a new desktop shortcut.

Step 12. Select OK
This will close the properties window.
Method 2 of 2: Use macOS

Step 1. Open the image you want to use in Preview
Preview is the default image viewing tool on Mac. Make sure the image you want to use as the Google Chrome icon is already saved on your computer. You can either double-click it to open it in Preview, or follow the steps below to open it in the app.
- Navigate to the image and click on it.
- Click on File in the menu bar at the top.
- Select Open with.
- Choose Preview.app.

Step 2. Click Edit
Once the image is open in Preview, click Editing in the menu bar at the top of the screen. This will display a drop-down menu.

Step 3. Choose Select All
This will select the entire image. You should see a dotted line around the image.
Another method is to click and drag the mouse to select part of the image. Make sure your selection is square

Step 4. Click Edit again
Open the Edit menu again.

Step 5. Select Copy
This will copy the part of the image you selected.
It is important to copy the image to Preview and not to its original location

Step 6. Open Finder

It's the blue and white smiley face icon.

Step 7. Go to Applications
This option is in the Finder side menu. Click on it to display all the apps you have installed on your Mac.

Step 8. Click on the Google Chrome application to select it
You don't need to open the app, just click it once to select it.

Step 9. Select File
This option is in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Step 10. Choose Get Info
The Get Info option is in the File menu and opens the Info window.
- You can also right click on Google chrome in the Applications folder then click on Obtain informations.

Step 11. Click on the Google Chrome icon
You'll find it at the top right of the Google Chrome info window. The icon will be highlighted to indicate that you have selected it.
This icon is different from the one you will find under Preview

Step 12. Select Edit
This option is in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Step 13. Choose Paste
This will paste the image you copied into Preview into the icon location. The icon in the Info panel should change immediately.
If the icon in the Dock does not change, close and then relaunch Google Chrome
Advice
- If you're using Outlook.com or Hotmail as your webmail tool, you can pin the People app to the Start screen. It is more complete than the same application installed on Windows 8.
- There are many apps that you can use to change your icons on your iPhone or Android device.
