Using your desktop computer, it is possible to find the password of an online account that you previously registered in Google Chrome's autofill.
Part 1 of 2: Sign in to Chrome
Step 1. Open Google Chrome on your computer
The Chrome icon is represented by a colored circle with a blue dot in its center. On a Mac, you'll find it in the applications folder. On Windows, you'll find it in the Start menu.
Step 2. Click on the person icon in the upper right corner
You will find this button above the icon represented by three vertical dots in the upper right corner of your browser window. This will open a drop-down menu.
Step 3. Click the blue Sign in to Chrome button
This will allow you to sign in to your Google account in a new window.
When you are logged in, your name will replace the person icon
Step 4. Enter your email address
Use your Google email address to sign in to Chrome.
Step 5. Click the blue Next button
It is located in the lower right corner of the login window. By clicking on this button, you will reach the page where you must enter your password.
Step 6. Enter your account password
You must enter the same password as the one you use to log into your Google mail inbox.
Step 7. Click Next
This will log you into Chrome from your Google user account.
Step 8. Click OK, I got it
This will close the login window.
Part 2 of 2: find a saved password
Step 1. Click on the icon formed by three vertical dots
This button is located next to the address bar in the upper right corner of the browser. This will open a drop-down menu.
Step 2. Click Settings from the drop-down menu
This will open your browser's Settings menu in a new tab.
Step 3. Scroll down the menu and select Advanced settings
This option is located at the bottom of the Settings menu. You will expand the menu and you will have access to the advanced options of your browser.
Step 4. Scroll down to the Passwords and Forms tab
This section contains all the recorded information about passwords that you have saved in the past.
Step 5. Click Manage Passwords
It can be found in the Passwords and Forms tab. You will reach the list of all the usernames and passwords that you have saved.
Step 6. Click on the icon formed by three vertical dots
Click on the icon next to the password you want to see. All of your saved passwords are hidden in this list. Click on the three small dots to open a drop-down menu.
Step 7. Select Details from the drop-down menu
This will open a new window and show you the details for that website, the saved username and password for the selected account.
Step 8. Click the eye icon
Click on the icon next to the hidden password in the drop-down menu. This icon reveals your hidden password. You will first need to confirm that this is your account in a new window.
Step 9. Enter the password for your computer user account
It should be the same as the one you use to sign in on Mac or Windows when you turn on your computer.
Step 10. Click OK
This will validate your account and reveal your hidden password.
Step 11. Locate your password in the corresponding field
You can read the password you saved in the Password tab at the bottom of the window.
