You can easily connect your Instagram account and Facebook account using the Instagram app for Android. Once your accounts are connected, you can follow your Facebook friends on Instagram and even post directly to your Instagram and Facebook account at the same time using Instagram's app. While it is possible to post images and videos from Instagram to Facebook, the reverse is not possible.
Part 1 of 3: Connect Instagram to Facebook
Step 1. Tap on Instagram's app to open it
If you are not signed in to your Instagram account on your device, you will need to do so to access the settings.
Step 2. Tap on the profile button
It is the Icon in the shape of a silhouette at the bottom right of the screen. By tapping on it, you will have access to your account.
Step 3. Select ⚙️ (iPhone) or ⋮ (Android)
You will find it at the top right of your profile, this will give you access to the options menu. Follow the next steps.

Step 4. Tap on the Connected Accounts option
You'll find it under the Settings heading.
Step 5. Tap on the Facebook option
This will redirect you to the Facebook login page.
Note that you can also connect your Twitter, Tumblr or Flickr account from this menu
Step 6. Enter your email address and password for Facebook
This will connect you to your Facebook account from Instagram.
- You will first be asked if you want to connect with the Facebook app or with your phone number or email. If you choose the app, select To open once it appears to open the Facebook app.
Step 7. Choose who can see your Instagram posts on Facebook
Tap on the drop-down menu and choose one of the following options.
- My friends.
- My friends only.
- Just me.
- My friends and their friends.
Step 8. Tap OK
If you are asked to open Instagram, choose To open.
Step 9. Review the options for your posts
You can enable post sharing which allows you to automatically post on Facebook anything you post on Instagram by selecting OK. If you don't want it, select Later, this will take you back to Instagram's options menu.
- You can change your mind later by going back to the Facebook tab in the connected accounts menu.
- You can also disconnect your Facebook account by opening the menu and tapping on the option Disconnect.
Part 2 of 3: Follow your Facebook contacts
Step 1. Tap on your profile button
On Instagram, it's a silhouette icon at the bottom right of your screen, tap on it to go to your account.
Step 2. Tap ⚙️ (iPhone) or ⋮ (Android)
You will find it at the top right of your profile page, this will open the Options menu for you.
Step 3. Select Facebook Friends
You will find it immediately below the Accounts to follow heading.
- Tap on OK when it appears. You are receiving this message only to remind you that you have given Facebook permission to access your Instagram account.
Step 4. Review the results
You should see a page with the number of Instagram friends you have, at the top of the screen. You can scroll through the results or tap on the different categories of accounts to track.
Step 5. Select Follow next to the name you want to follow
This allows you to immediately track unprotected accounts and send a request to private accounts.
- You can also tap the button Track all accounts which is next to the number of friends at the top of the screen to follow all your Facebook friends who also use Instagram.
Part 3 of 3: Post a photo to both accounts
Step 1. Open the Instagram app
You will need to upload a photo or video to post to both accounts.
Step 2. Tap + at the bottom of the screen
This will open the page for creating a new post. From there, you can upload a photo from your gallery or take a new one.
Step 3. Choose or create something to post, then tap Next
Select a photo or video from your gallery or capture a photo or video by selecting the corresponding tab.
You can scroll through your entire gallery from the Instagram app
Step 4. Apply the filters you want, then tap Next
You'll find it at the top right of the screen.
Step 5. Share on Facebook
Activate the switch next to Facebook
(iPhone) or tap the Facebook button so that it turns blue (Android). On an iPhone, you will find it under the Add a place and on Android, just below the Share heading.
Remember the legend and the location before continuing
Step 6. Tap Share
You will see it at the top of the screen. This will post your new post on Instagram and Facebook.
