It is possible to type emojis in Instagram. You can do this on your iPhone as well as on your Android phone using the built-in emoji keyboard and the Instagram app, as well as on your computer by copying and pasting emojis from a suitable site.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Put some on the iPhone
Step 1. Activate the emoji keyboard
If you haven't activated it yet, you must do so before you can continue.
- Open them Settings
- Go down and tap on General
- Scroll down and select Keyboard.
- Press on Keyboards.
- Select Add a new keyboard.
- Go down and tap on Emojis.
Step 2. Open Instagram
The icon looks like a multi-colored camera. This will allow you to find yourself on the home page if you are already logged in.
- If you are not yet logged in, type in your username (or phone number) and password before pressing To log in.
Step 3. Go to the post in question
Scroll down to the home page to find the post or tap on the magnifying glass before entering the name of the account you're interested in.
You can also put an emoji in the caption of your own post
Step 4. Tap on the bubble icon
It is located at the bottom of the photo on the left side of the screen. This allows the cursor to be placed in the comments field and the keyboard to appear.
Step 5. Tap on the emoji icon
It's a little smiley face that can be found in the lower left corner of the screen. The emoji keyboard will appear instead of your keyboard.
- If you have more than one additional keyboard, this icon will look more like a globe. Press and hold it while selecting Emojis.
- To return to the previous keyboard, choose ABC in the lower left corner.
Step 6. Select the emoji to post
You can scroll left or right to see the available emojis. Tap the one you want to appear in the comments field.
Step 7. Tap Post
The button is to the right of the text field. This allows you to post the emoji in the comments.
Method 2 of 3: Put it on an Android phone
Step 1. Open Instagram
It's an icon that looks like a multi-colored camera. If you are already logged in, you should land on the home page.
- If you're not signed in, type your username (or phone number) and password, then press To log in.
Step 2. Go to the post to comment
You can scroll down to this page to find the one you are interested in or you can simply select the magnifying glass to find a specific user.
You can also put an emoji in the caption of the photo
Step 3. Tap the bubble icon
You'll see it right below the post on Instagram. This should bring up the keyboard.
Step 4. Select the emoji on the keyboard
It should look like a smiley face. You should find it on the left or right side of the keyboard.
- If you don't see it, press the button Return and keep pressed. You should see the emoji options window appear.
Step 5. Select the emoji
You can scroll left or right before tapping on the one you want to enter in the comments field.
Step 6. Select ✓
The button is on the right side of the text field. This will allow you to post the comment.
Method 3 of 3: Put some on the computer
On windows
Step 1. Open the Instagram site
Go to https://www.instagram.com in your preferred browser. This will open the home page if you are already logged in.
- If you are not logged in, click To log in then enter your username (or phone number) and password before clicking To log in.
Step 2. Find the post that interests you
Scroll down the home page to the post where you want to leave a comment or type the name of the account you're interested in in the search box at the top of the page.
Step 3. Click in the comments field
It's a white frame just below the post where it should read: “Add a comment…” This places the cursor in the field.
Step 4. Select the keyboard icon
There is a keyboard icon at the bottom left of the screen, but you may need to select another icon before you see it. Here's what to do if you don't see this icon.
- Open menu To start up.
- Click on the settings gear.
- Select Customization.
- Press on Taskbar.
- Scroll down and click Enable or disable system icons.
- Choose Deactivate on the right of Touch keypad.
Step 5. Select the smiley
It should be at the bottom left of the keyboard.
Step 6. Click on it and write
You can scroll left or right by pressing the directional keys or you can choose the category of emojis you are interested in at the bottom of the keyboard.
Step 7. Press Enter
This allows you to post the comment.
On Mac
Step 1. Open the Instagram site
Go to https://www.instagram.com. You will find yourself on the home page if you are already logged in.
- If you are not logged in, click on the button To log in to put your username (or phone number) and password in the appropriate fields.
Step 2. Comment on the post you want
Scroll down to the home page to the post you are interested in or type the name of the account in question in the search bar at the top of the page.
Step 3. Select the comments field
It is the white rectangle below the post where it is written “Add a comment…” This allows to put the cursor in the field.
Step 4. Click Edit
It is on the left of the menu at the top of the screen.
Step 5. Select Emojis & Symbols
It's at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
Step 6. Choose the emoji you want
You can choose different categories by clicking on the tabs at the bottom of the window that has just appeared.
Step 7. Press Enter
This allows you to post the comment.
