Slits on the eyebrows are a fashionable form of expression that involves a thin vertical cut at the eyebrow. This style was made popular in the 90s and is still seen today. You can create these eyebrow slits using an electric or manual razor and masking tape. If you don't want permanent splits, there are also ways to create them with makeup. If you follow the right steps, you can create your own eyebrow split style in no time.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Use an electric razor

Step 1. Draw vertical lines on the eyebrow
Create vertical lines with a white eyeliner pencil where you want to make the slits. Decide on one or both eyebrows. Look at yourself in a mirror and determine how many slits you want and exactly where you want them.
- In general, people prefer to do between one and three on each eyebrow. Thick eyebrows usually work best with multiple slits, which is why you should take that into account when choosing how many you want.
- Most often, the slits are made on the outer part of the eyebrows.

Step 2. Put duct tape near one of the lines
Take a piece of masking tape and lay it near the line you just drew. Use the right edge of the tape and line it up with the edge of the white eyeliner mark. You are going to create one slot after the other.

Step 3. Put duct tape on the other side of the line
Make sure to leave a space between the two pieces of duct tape. This is where the slit is going to be. The duct tape will act as a guide to help you shave a straight line.

Step 4. Shave between the two pieces of duct tape
Hold the razor perpendicular to the skin. Gently lower the razor over the eyebrow, against the direction of hair growth, and shave the space between the two pieces of tape. Take it slow and don't press too hard or you may cause the duct tape to fall off your eyebrows.
- Shave only vertically. Try to avoid sideways movements.
- If you want to do multiple lunges, start from the outside and move forward inward.

Step 5. Remove the tape and wipe off the eyeliner
Gently remove the tape to avoid pulling your eyebrow hairs. Wipe off any leftover eyeliner with your finger and a little water. You should now have a slit on your eyebrow.

Step 6. Remove the remaining hairs with the tweezers
Walk up to a mirror and find any hair that hasn't been shaved. Pluck them out with tweezers to get a smooth, clean slit on the eyebrow.

Step 7. Repeat these steps on the rest of the eyebrows
If you only want one lunge, you can stop there. If you are drawing multiple lines, repeat the process by applying duct tape to either side of the line you drew and shaving the hairs in the middle.

Step 8. Maintain the slits by shaving them regularly
Look at yourself in a mirror every now and then to see if the hairs are growing back. If so, repeat the same steps and shave off the brow hair to create the slits.
Method 2 of 2: Create slits with makeup

Step 1. Put powder in your eyebrows
First, take a small brush and brush your eyebrows to give them a more defined line and arrange any stubborn hairs. Then use a makeup brush and brow powder to fill them in and make them look thicker. The color of the powder should match that of your eyebrows. The thicker and more drawn they are, the more the slits will stand out.

Step 2. Apply concealer around the eyebrows
Pick one that's the same tone as your skin tone and apply it around the edges of your eyebrows. Rub the concealer on your skin so you don't see the makeup lines around your eyebrows.
- The concealer allows the shade of color in the slits to match that of the skin around the eyebrows.
- You can use a brush or your fingers to spread the concealer.

Step 3. Dip a small brush into the concealer
Pick a small brush from your makeup kit and dip it in a concealer the same color you used on your eyebrows. Cover the tip of the brush with concealer.

Step 4. Press the tip of the brush against your eyebrows
Choose the location of the slits and press the tip of the brush against the eyebrow to apply the concealer. Apply the concealer from top to bottom to darken the line and try to keep the edges as clean as possible.

Step 5. Let dry for five minutes
Fan wet concealer to speed drying. Do not take the next step until it is dry.

Step 6. Apply a transparent powder to the eyebrows
Use a thicker foundation brush and brush it with sheer powder. Lightly press the foundation brush into the slits and around the eyebrows. This helps give the slits a more natural look while mixing the different powders.

Step 7. Mix the makeup on your face
Apply your makeup to the rest of your face and mix the different powders so that the concealer around the eyebrows does not show any visible lines or drastic color changes from your natural skin tone. Once your makeup is done, you've created an artificial slit that you can easily remove by wiping off your makeup.
