Skype offers its users the feature of conference calling which allows you to contact at least three people simultaneously. Besides letting you see someone you can't meet in person, this feature is great for contacting friends and family who are in different places. You can organize conference calls via PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad or Android.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Make a Skype Conference Call with PC or Mac
Step 1. Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet
Group calls slow down internet speed. So make sure you have a broadband connection.
If your wireless internet connection is slow, connect your computer directly to the router with an Ethernet cable for a more stable internet connection
Step 2. Open Skype
Step 3. Log into your account
Log in to Skype with your username and password.
Step 4. Click on a recent conversation or the name of a contact
This action will allow you to open the conversation window. This allows you to add other contacts to the conversation.
- You can also click the (+) button in the toolbar above the section CONTACTS and RECENT ACTIONS to create a new group.
Step 5. Add people to the group
Click on the icon represented by a person with a "+" sign next to it. This icon is located in the upper right corner of the conversation window. If you click on it, a menu allowing you to add people to the group will appear.
Step 6. Click on a contact in the list to insert it into the group
You also have the option to specifically search for a contact you want to add to the group by entering the person's name.
If you are currently in a conversation with someone, adding that person to a large group will make the rest of the contacts in the list show your current conversation
Step 7. Add as many contacts as you want
Skype can support up to 25 people (including yourself) during a voice call.
Only ten people can participate in a video call
Step 8. Click the Call Group or Video Call button
To start a conference click on Call the group Where Video call. Thus, all members of the group will receive the call.
Step 9. End the call
To end a call, click the red phone button. Thus, you will have a successful Skype conference call.
Part 2 of 3: Make a Skype Conference Call with iPhone or iPad
Step 1. Open Skype
Download the app for free from the Apple store, if you haven't already installed it on your device
Step 2. Log into your account
Use your username and password to login. This is the same information used to access your Skype account on your computer.
Step 3. Create a discussion group
To do so, press the "+" button in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 4. Tap a contact's name in the list to add it to the group
This will be automatically added to the group.
- You have the option to add up to 25 people (including yourself). However, only 6 people can appear in the video.
- You can also add other people to your current call by tapping the group name at the top of the screen. Then tap on the option Add participants in the next menu to add people from the contact list.
Step 5. Tap the Call option to initiate a call
You will find this option in the upper right corner of the screen.
You also have the option to tap the camera-like icon to initiate a video call
Step 6. End the call
To end a call, click the red phone button. Thus, you will have a successful Skype conference call.
Part 3 of 3: Make a Skype conference call with an Android
Step 1. Open Skype
Download the app for free from Google Play Store, if you haven't installed it on your device yet
Step 2. Log into your account
Use your username and password to login. This is the same information used to access your Skype account on your computer.
Step 3. Enter the call menu
Press the "+" button in the lower right corner of the screen to display it.
Step 4. Select Audio Call
Thus, the contact menu will appear and you can search for a contact specifically.
Step 5. Enter the name of a contact
After finding the contact you are looking for, make the call to start a group call.
Step 6. Press the Call button
It is located in the upper right corner of the screen. You can also tap the icon that looks like a camera to initiate a video call.
Step 7. Tap the Add option
Use this option to add another contact to the group. Once the call is initiated, press this button and enter the contact name of the person you want added to the group. Then, tap on the appropriate contact as soon as it appears.
On the Android version of Skype, it is possible to add up to 25 people simultaneously during a conference call (including yourself)
Step 8. End your call
To end a call, click the red phone button. Thus, you will have a successful Skype conference call.
