If you use Skype, chances are you've already wanted to record one of your conversations as a souvenir. Funny or touching, these moments can be very important to you. Fortunately, it is possible to record your audio or video calls, both on the phone and on a computer.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Record a conversation with a phone

Step 1. Open Skype
Tap the Skype application icon. It looks like an "S" on a blue background. This will open the Skype home page, if you are already signed in to your account.
If you are not signed in to Skype, enter your email address or username, then your password

Step 2. Start a Skype call
Choose a contact from your list, then press the button shaped like a telephone handset, to make an audio call, or the button shaped like a camera, to make a video call.

Step 3. Press +
The button is located at the bottom of the screen. A popup menu will then appear.

Step 4. Tap Start Recording
The option is in the popup menu. Skype will then start recording your call.

Step 5. Stop recording
Once you're done, you can stop recording, using the Stop Recording button, located at the top left of the screen.
- Make sure you do not interrupt the call until the message Finalization of registration … disappears from the screen.

Step 6. Hang up
Press the white and red telephone handset icon to end your call.

Step 7. Verify the recording
All participants will see the recording you made in the chat section of the conversation. By pressing it, you can listen to it again.
- By long-pressing the video, then choosing Save in the menu that will appear, will allow you to save the video on your phone or tablet.
Method 2 of 2: Record a conversation with a computer

Step 1. Check for updates
You will need to have at least Skype version 8 in order to access the recording options.
- You can download the latest version of Skype by going to https://www.skype.com/en/get-skype/, then clicking the button Get Skype and selecting your operating system.
- When you have downloaded Skype, you can proceed to install it by double-clicking the downloaded file and following the on-screen instructions.
- If you are using Skype for Windows 10, then use the Microsoft Store to check for any updates. Click on the button represented by 3 dots, then choose Downloads and Updates, then click Get Updates.

Step 2. Open Skype
Click or double-click on the program icon. It looks like an "S" on a blue background. This will open the Skype home page if you are signed in to your account.

Step 3. Start a call
Select a contact from the list on the left side of the window, then click the button shaped like a telephone handset, to make an audio call, or the button shaped like a camera, to make a video call.

Step 4. Press +
The button is located at the bottom of the screen. A popup menu will then appear.

Step 5. Tap Start Recording
The option is in the popup menu. Skype will then start recording your call.

Step 6. Stop recording
Once you're done, you can stop recording, using the Stop Recording button at the top of the screen.
- Make sure you do not interrupt the call until the message Finalization of registration … disappears from the screen.

Step 7. Hang up
Press the white and red telephone handset icon to end your call.

Step 8. Verify the recording
All participants will see the recording you made in the chat section of the conversation. By pressing it, you can listen to it again.
- Right-clicking or pressing Control while clicking on the video will bring up a menu. You can select Save in "Downloads" in this menu to save the video to your computer.
Advice
- Always ask the other person for permission to record the conversation.
- Skype recordings are automatically deleted after 30 days.
Warnings
- You may need Skype Credit to make your calls. Before making a call, make sure you have enough Skype Credit so you don't delay your call or get cut off in the middle of your conversation.
- It is illegal to register someone without their consent.
