If you are having problems with your computer, it may be useful to know your version of Windows and its architecture. This can help people better understand the problem, if they know which version you are using. It only takes a few minutes to find it as well as find out if you are 32-bit or 64-bit architecture.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Find Windows Version Using Run

Step 1. Simultaneously press ⊞ Win + R
This will open the window Execute Windows.
- You can also right click on the menu button To start up and click on Execute.

Step 2. Type winver and then press Enter or click OK
This will open the window About Windows.

Step 3. Check your version
Your version of Windows will be displayed at the top of the window About Windows. It is to the right of Version and the operating system version number is in parentheses. You will have, for example, Version 6.3 (Build 9600). As of March 2020, the latest version of Windows 10 is version 1909.
If you are not using the latest version of Windows, it is recommended that you update it immediately
Part 2 of 3: Find Windows Version Using Control Panel

Step 1. Click

This is the button at the bottom left of the screen, it is represented by the Windows logo. The menu To start up will then be displayed.

Step 2. Click

The button is in the bar to the left of the menu To start up. It is represented by a gear icon. This will open the window on control panel.

Step 3. Select System
The icon looks like a laptop computer. This is the first option in the control panel.

Step 4. Click System Information
This is the last option in the left bar of the window. This will display information about your system.

Step 5. Scroll down the page
Your system information can be found in the section Windows specification at the end of the page. As of March 2020, the latest version of Windows 10 is the 1909.
- The architecture of your system (32-bit or 64-bit) is displayed next to System type in the section System information.
- The edition number of Windows (for example, Windows 10) is displayed to the right of Editing, in the section Windows specification.
- Your version of Windows is to the right of Version, in the same section.
- Also in this section, you will find the Version of your operating system.
Part 3 of 3: Determine the architecture of Windows

Step 1. Click

This is the button at the bottom left of the screen, it is represented by the Windows logo. The menu To start up will then be displayed.
- You can also press the keys simultaneously. Windows and Pause to display the window General system information.

Step 2. Type Control Panel
This will display the shortcut to the control panel in the menu To start up.

Step 3. Click Control Panel
The icon looks like a screen covered with graphics. This will open the control panel.

Step 4. Click System
You will find information about your system in the window that will open.
- The version of your Windows (for example, Windows 10 Professional) is displayed in the section Windows Edition.
- The architecture of your system (32-bit or 64-bit) is displayed next to System type in the section System.
