How to crop an image with Microsoft Paint

You have a photo that you want to crop on part. Use Microsoft Paint to do this in just a few clicks.

Step 1. Choose the photo

Go to your photo, right click on it. A menu opens offering you possible actions.

Step 2. Go to Open With

In the menu that appears, find Open with. It's in the middle of the menu.

Step 3. Select Paint

Clicking on Open with, a sub-menu appears. Choose it Paint. The icon is a color palette with a brush.

Step 4. Choose the form of selection

In Paint, you are on the tab Home. Click on ▼ below the Select button. This button is in the section Picture of the tab.

Step 5. Choose Rectangular Selection

You will find this option at the top of the proposed list.

Step 6. Define your selection

Go to your image and choose a place on the image where your selection should start. Click and move the mouse. Depending on the movement of the mouse, you will see a dotted rectangle appear. Stop your click once you are happy with your selection. Note that the area inside your selection will remain after cropping.

To remove a photo border, click in a corner so that your border does not fall within the selection field, then drag diagonally. Stop your selection just before the border at the opposite corner of your starting point from your selection.
If you want to redo your selection, click on the photo outside of the part already selected, then start again.

Step 7. Tap Crop

This option is in the same section as To select. He is just to his right, at the top. By pressing Crop, you delete all of the part of the photo that is not in the selection. You only have the part you selected in Paint.

Advice

It is possible not to choose a selection in the shape of a rectangle. You can, for example, opt for a free selection and thus according to your inspiration to make an original selection.

Warnings

Once you have made your selection on your photo, be careful not to click the Delete key on your keyboard. This would remove the part you had selected. To recover the deleted part, click on the small arrow pointing to the left at the top of your window Paint.
