Learn how to monitor the health and charge of your laptop battery on Windows and Mac. Windows can notify you if you need to replace your battery, and you can also report its status with PowerShell. On Mac, you can check your battery status in the System Information section.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Check the battery health status in Windows

Step 1. Take a look at the battery icon
This is located at the bottom right of the taskbar in Windows. This bar is by default at the bottom of your screen. If you see a red X on the battery icon, there is a problem with the battery.

Step 2. Click on the battery icon
A window with additional information will then appear and indicate the remaining battery life. If there is a problem, additional details will be available at the top of the window. Windows will also tell you if you need to replace it if necessary.
Method 2 of 3: Generate a battery status report in Windows

Step 1. Right click on

The Start menu is represented by the Windows icon at the bottom left of the taskbar.

Step 2. Click Windows PowerShell
It is in the middle of the menu that appears when you right click on the menu To start up. The PowerShell command prompt opens.

Step 3. Enter powercfg / batteryreport
This command will generate a battery report.

Step 4. Press Enter
The report is generated can be opened in an Internet browser.

Step 5. Click to open the battery report
It will be saved by default under C: \ users \ username \ battery_diagnostic.html. You can open it in any internet browser of your choice. It contains information on the type of battery, its usage history, its actual and estimated capacity.
Method 3 of 3: Check the battery status on a Mac

Step 1. Click

It's at the top left of the menu bar.

Step 2. Choose About This Mac
This is the first option in the menu bar.

Step 3. Click System Information
It's at the bottom of the Preview tab in About This Mac. A menu with several reports opens.

Step 4. Click Power
This can be found in the left panel menu, under Hardware.

Step 5. Take a look at the battery condition
You can find the battery status under Health Info, below Battery Info. The displayed status may read: Normal, Replace Soon, Replace Now, or Check Battery next to “Conditions”.
