You have the option to use the "Invert" feature to add some great effects to your image. Normally, you should create an inverted color layer on the original image. Learn how to invert colors in Photoshop now!
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Create an inverted layer

Step 1. Open an image in Photoshop
Make sure it is compatible with the color inversion feature. The change will be more drastic if the image is very light or dark. Note that the inversion will replace each color in the image with its corresponding opposite: the brightness value of each pixel is converted to an inverted value on the scale of 0 to 256. See if the image is more or less sharp when 'it will be reversed. If you aren't sure, you have nothing to lose by trying this!

Step 2. Open the layers section
Click on the menu Window, then select Layers to bring up the layers section if you can't see it. Remember that you are not actually changing the colors of the original file, but you are creating an inverted color layer on top of the base image.
- If you want to invert the colors of a particular section on an image, you must make use of the selection tools (magic wand, lasso, selection rectangle or ellipse) to define the part you wish to invert. If you want to invert the colors on the whole image, then you won't need an active selection.
- On the other hand, if you want to invert an image with complex pixels, you can add a new layer on top of it. Then press ⇧ Shift + Ctrl + E to merge the entire composition without changing the background layers, however.

Step 3. Invert the image
Click on the button Create a fill or adjustment layer which is at the bottom of the section Layers. You can find this feature by hovering your cursor over options. Select Reverse from the drop-down menu that appears. Photoshop will automatically add a named layer Negative above the first clip or layer that was active when you added this setting.
- If you had made a selection before applying the adjustment, Photoshop will create a layer mask for the layer. Negative. The app will invert the colors of the part you selected.

Step 4. Arrange the inverted layer
Move the layer Negative below or above in the layer stack to position it again. Any layer acts only based on what is below it, so the position of the flip in the stack determines its impact on your image.

Step 5. Toggle the inverted layer on and off
Press Shift and click on the blend layer that is applied to the adjustment layer Negative to turn off the mask and apply the setting to the entire file. Click on the button Merge layer to activate the setting again. Double click on the eye icon to the left of the layer Negative to deactivate the setting in question.

Step 6. Work with the original image and the one that is reversed
After inverting an image, click the option Defines a new snapshot. Open each of the images in separate tabs. This will allow you to work with the initial image and the one that has been inverted.
Method 2 of 2: Use Ctrl + I or ⌘ Cmd + I

Step 1. Know the reverse command
Inverting colors is just done in Photoshop with Ctrl + I or Cmd + I, but there are some things you need to check about layers and image before applying the effect. Negative exactly where you want it. To invert an entire image, all you need to do is open it in Photoshop and press Cmd + I or Crtl + I.

Step 2. Invert the colors on a specific layer

Otherwise, right-click on the layer name (in the section Layers) and select Rasterize the layer. Once that's done, you can press Ctrl + I to invert all the colors visible on the layer.
- You could only do this on one layer at a time. It will not work if you select multiple layers.
- You should follow this method after resizing the image or layer to the size you want. Enlarging an image after rasterizing it can result in loss of resolution or blurring.

Step 3. Invert specific parts of a layer
If you want to apply the effect Negative In particular areas of a layer, you can click on the layer and select the parts you want to invert using the various selection tools available in Photoshop. Use the magic wand, lasso and marquee tool. Add or remove portions from your selection as needed.
