Do you have an RCA universal remote that does not have a search code button for your television or other device plugged into your television (eg DVD player)? No problem ! You can use the official RCA website to find your remote's programming code for your favorite device and enter it using the remote. If that doesn't work, you can still activate and use the remote's code finder function without the need for a dedicated button.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: find the code

Step 1. Find the model number of your remote
You will usually find this number (made up of letters and numbers) on the back of the remote, for example on the battery cover.

Step 2. Make sure you know the brand
You can usually find it on the top of the remote, but sometimes the mark is noted on the battery cover.

Step 3. Open the remote control codes page on the RCA website
Go to rcaaudiovideo.com in your computer browser.

Step 4. Click the Revision Number drop-down menu
You will find it on the left of the page. The drop-down menu will appear.

Step 5. Choose the model number of your remote
Find the number in the drop-down menu that matches the one you found on the remote, then click to select it.
You can jump directly to the correct number by typing the first few characters once the drop-down menu is open

Step 6. Select Device Brand Name
It sits in the middle of the other two. This will open a drop-down menu.

Step 7. Choose the brand of your remote
Select the brand of your remote from the drop-down menu that appears.

Step 8. Click on the Device Type menu
You will find it on the right of the page. A drop-down menu will appear.

Step 9. Choose the device you want to use with the remote
For example, if you want to program the remote control for TV, you could click TV from the drop-down menu.
If you don't see your device's name, you could use the passcode search method instead. This also applies to the Others category

Step 10. Observe the code
You should see a code of at least four digits in the middle of the page, depending on the device you selected, you might see two or more.
Part 2 of 3: Enter the code

Step 1. Make sure the device is turned on
For example, if you are programming the remote control for your television, you need to make sure that the television is on.

Step 2. Point the remote control at the device in question
This allows you to avoid interference with other devices while you enter the code.

Step 3. Press and hold the device button
The device button will usually be identified by the name of the device to which you can program the remote, written above or below.
For example, if you are programming it for TV, you should have a TV button

Step 4. Enter the code while keeping the button pressed
Use the remote control keypad to type in the four digits you found on the RCA website.
For example, if you program the remote control for your television, you will keep the TV button pressed while entering the four-digit code on the keypad

Step 5. Release the button
This allows the code to be entered.

Step 6. Observe the confirmation flash
If you were successful, you should see the LED on the remote blink once.
If it blinks four times, there has been a problem. Try a different code if the website gave you more than one

Step 7. Try to use the code search mode
Even if the remote does not have a code search button, you can activate it on any RCA remote. You will have to try it if you have not managed to program it and find the device in question by entering the codes that were provided to you on the RCA website.
