Locating an IP address will inform you of its geographic position. You will not have to do much to perform this search and get a result quickly.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Using the WolframAlpha site

Step 1. Find the IP address you want to locate

It is very easy to locate an IP address from any Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone or Android platform as long as it is connected to the Internet.

You can also locate, if you want, the IP address of a Skype user

Step 2. Open the WolframAlpha site

Go to the official WolframAlpha website with your browser.

Step 3. Click on the site search bar

You will find it at the top of the displayed page.

Step 4. Enter the IP address of the site to locate

If you want to locate the Facebook IP address, you will need to enter 157.240.18.35 in the search bar.

Step 5. Press the Enter key on your keyboard

This will have the effect of searching for the geographic location details of the site identified by that IP address.

Step 6. Read the result obtained

WolframAlpha will usually display the IP address of the site being searched, the URL of its Internet service provider, such as Comcast, and the city where it is active at the time of the search.

You can get more information about the city where the site you are looking for is active by clicking on the button. Any further which is to the right of the title IP address of the holder; you'll see details like the location's latitude and longitude, and even the weather there when you searched.
If the WolframAlpha site does not display any location information for the address you entered, try searching the IP-lookup site instead.

Method 2 of 2: Use the IP-Lookup site

Step 1. Find the IP address you want to locate

This localization is very easy to do from any Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone or Android platform connected to the Internet.

You can also locate, if you want, the IP address of a Skype user

Step 2. Open the IP-Lookup site

Go to the Spiceworks site with your browser.

Step 3. Click on the search bar

This is the white text entry box below the title. IP address or URL of the site.

Step 4. Enter the IP address you want to locate

For example, enter one of Google's IP addresses: 172.217.7.206, to locate it.

Step 5. Click Locate IP Address

This is the blue button that is to the right of the text entry field you just filled in. This will search for the location of the site whose IP address you just entered.

Step 6. Read the result obtained

IP-Lookup will show you brief information, such as the city and state or country where the IP address you are looking for is active, as well as a map that will allow you to locate it more efficiently thanks to a pointing pin.
