Find out how to permanently close your Spotify account. Since the Spotify mobile app does not allow you to delete an account, you will need to use a computer to do so. If you have a Spotify Premium subscription, you will need to cancel it first, before you can close your Spotify account.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Cancel a Premium Membership
Step 1. Open the Spotify site
Access the website in your computer's web browser. Your personalized Spotify dashboard page will appear if you are already logged in.
- Skip to the next step directly if you don't have a Spotify Premium subscription.
- If your browser has not saved your connection information, click Log in at the top right of the page, enter the email address and password for your Spotify account, then click LOGIN.
- You cannot cancel your Premium subscription from the Spotify mobile app.
Step 2. Click My Profile
This option is at the top right of the page. When you click on it, a drop-down menu will appear.
Step 3. Click Account
It's in the drop-down menu. Your Spotify account page will open.
Step 4. Click MANAGE MY SUBSCRIPTION
This black button appears under the Spotify Premium heading on the right of the page.
- If you don't see this option, click the tab Account overview at the top left of the page to make sure you're on the correct page.
Step 5. Choose CHANGE OR TERMINATE
This green button is near the middle of the page.
Step 6. Click on CANCEL PREMIUM
This gray button is displayed on the right of the page, under the heading Modify my subscription.
Step 7. Choose YES, CANCEL
This button is at the top of the page. Your Premium subscription will be terminated. Once this step is completed, you can proceed to closing your Spotify account.
Part 2 of 2: Delete your Spotify account
Step 1. Open the Spotify customer service page
Access this page in your computer's web browser. A page with the title CONTACT SPOTIFY will open if you are already logged in to your Spotify account.
- If you are not logged in to your account, enter the email address associated with your Spotify account (or your username) and password, then click LOGIN before continuing.
Step 2. Click Account
This is under the heading Please select a category near the top of the page.
Step 3. Click I want to permanently close my Spotify account
This option is in the middle of the page.
Step 4. Click on CLOSE MY ACCOUNT
You will find this black button at the bottom left of the page.
Step 5. Click on CLOSE ACCOUNT
It's the blue button at the bottom right of the page.
Step 6. Verify your account
Before you continue, look at the account name in the middle of the page to make sure it matches the account you want to delete.
Step 7. Scroll down and click CONTINUE
It's at the bottom right of the page.
Step 8. Check I understand and still want to close my account
This box is near the bottom of the page, but you may have to scroll down to find it.
Step 9. Click CONTINUE
This button at the bottom right of the page will confirm your decision and invite Spotify to send a message to the email address associated with your account.
Step 10. Open the email sent by Spotify
Go to the email address you used to sign up for Spotify, then click the email Confirm deletion of your Spotify account.
If you signed up for Spotify through Facebook, go to the email address you used to sign up with Facebook
Step 11. Click on CLOSE MY ACCOUNT
This green button is in the middle of the received email. The deletion process is now complete and your Spotify account will be deleted.
Advice
- You can reactivate your Spotify account within seven days of its termination by opening the email This is our last goodbye from Spotify, and then clicking REACTIVATE MY ACCOUNT in the middle of the email.
- Once you have deleted your Spotify account, you can delete the app from your phone, tablet, or computer.
