Are you having a problem with the sensitivity of your mouse? You can change the speed at which the pointer moves on a Windows computer or on a Mac.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Change mouse sensitivity on Windows

Step 1. Open the Start menu

Click on the Windows logo at the bottom left of the screen.

Step 2. Type control panel
Windows will search for the Control Panel application on your computer.

Step 3. Click Control Panel
It's a blue, square icon at the top of the start window. Click on it to open the control panel.

Step 4. Select Mouse
This mouse icon is on the left of the window Control panel.
- If you do not see this option, change the view of the control panel by clicking on the tab Category at the top right of the page then by clicking on Large icons in the drop-down menu that appears.

Step 5. Click Pointer Options
This is a tab at the top of the window.

Step 6. Adjust the speed of your mouse pointer
In the section Pointer movement at the top of the window, click and drag the slider to the left to slow down your mouse and to the right to speed it up.

Step 7. Turn off pointer precision to slow down the mouse
If your mouse is moving too fast for you, uncheck the box Improve pointer accuracy under the cursor. This option moves the pointer different distances depending on how fast you move the mouse or trackpad. Turn it off to prevent the pointer from moving too fast even if you move the mouse abruptly.

Step 8. Test the speed of your pointer
Move the mouse and test the speed of the pointer. If the pointer is moving too fast, drag the movement slider to the left, and if it moves too slowly, drag it to the right.
Finding the right speed can take a while

Step 9. Click Apply then on OK.
The 2 options are at the bottom of the window. Click on it to save your settings and close the window. Your mouse pointer should now move at the speed you have determined.
Method 2 of 2: Change mouse sensitivity on Mac

Step 1. Open the Apple menu

Click on the Apple logo at the top left of the screen. A drop-down menu will appear.

Step 2. Click System Preferences
This option is at the top of the drop-down menu.

Step 3. Select Trackpad Where Mouse.
If you are using a MacBook, click Trackpad and if you are using an iMac, click Mouse.

Step 4. Click Point and Click
This tab is at the top of the window.
- Skip this step if you clicked Mouse.

Step 5. Adjust the Travel Speed slider
Click and drag the slider to the left to slow down your mouse pointer and to the right to speed it up.

Step 6. Test your mouse
Move your mouse over the screen. If it moves too fast, drag the slider Movement speed to the left and, if it moves too slowly, slide it to the right.
You may need to spend a few minutes adjusting the pointer movement speed before you find the correct setting

Step 7. Close the System Preferences window
Click on the red circle "Close" at the top left of the window. Your changes will be saved.
Advice
- If you want to adjust the DPI (dots per inch or dots per inch) of a gaming mouse, you will need to go through the specific mouse settings. Check the mouse manual to be sure. Some gaming mouse models also have a physical button that you can press to increase or decrease DPI.
- If you are still having problems with the mouse after changing the sensitivity settings, the problem may be due to the gunk accumulated under the mouse. You can solve this problem by cleaning your mouse.
