You can access your Kindle book library using the Kindle Cloud Reader and the Kindle desktop app. The Cloud Reader allows you to read books from any device connected to the Internet, and also gives you the option of downloading books for offline use. If you prefer to install an app, you can install the Kindle desktop app and use it to download and read any book in your library. You will need an active Amazon account and at least one Kindle book linked to your account to use either method.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Use the Kindle Cloud Reader

Step 1. Go to lire.amazon.fr
This Kindle Cloud Reader is a web version of the Kindle desktop application. You can use it in any web browser to read Kindle books on your computer.

Step 2. Log into your Amazon account
Once on the main page, you will be prompted to log into your Amazon.com account using your email address and password. Once your password is accepted, you will access your Kindle library.
- If this is your first time signing in, you'll be prompted to set up Kindle Cloud Reader for offline reading. If you want to be able to read books without internet access, click Start now to configure this function.

Step 3. Click on a book in your library
If you've never opened the book before, it will open on the first page. If you've read it on another device synced with your Amazon account, it'll open on the last page you opened.
- If you want to be able to download books to your computer and you haven't been prompted to set up offline reading, click the tab Downloaded at the top center, then follow the on-screen instructions.
- To download a book to your computer, right-click on its title then select Download and pin the book. Downloaded books are saved in the Downloaded section.

Step 4. Use the arrows to flick through the book
To move forward one page, press the right arrow on your keyboard or click the > on the right page. To go back one page, press the left arrow on your keyboard or click the < on the left page.
- If you want to quickly move to another page in the book, move the mouse cursor to the top of the page to display the progress bar at the bottom, then drag the cursor to the page that interests you.
- You can also browse the content and sections of the book by hovering your cursor over the top of the page and clicking the open book button.
- To search for something in the book, type your query in the search bar at the top right of the page. If you don't see it, move the mouse cursor to the top of the page to make it appear.

Step 5. Click the Aa button to change the appearance of the book
You will need to hover your mouse cursor over the top of the page first to bring up the toolbar if you can't see it. You can now adjust the size and position of the font, colors, margins and other details.

Step 6. Add annotations and bookmarks
Kindle Cloud Reader lets you bookmark, annotate, and highlight sections.
- Click the bookmark icon to add a bookmark to the open page.
- To highlight a word or a set of words, select them with the mouse, then click on the option Highlight that is displayed.
- To add an annotation, highlight words then click on the option Annotate which appears. Type the text of your annotation and choose Save.

Step 7. Click the sync button
It's the two curved arrows icon in the toolbar. This will sync the last page you read, along with your notes and bookmarks, with your other Kindle apps and devices.
Method 2 of 2: Use the Kindle desktop app

Step 1. Download the app from Amazon.fr
If you want to read your Kindle books on a specific computer, even when you are not connected to the Internet, you can download the Kindle desktop app. Click on the button Download for PC and Mac under the cover image to download the installer. Double-click the downloaded file, then follow the on-screen instructions to install the app.

Step 2. Open the Kindle application
Once you've installed the app, you'll find it in the Start menu (on Windows) or in the Applications folder (on macOS).

Step 3. Log into your Amazon account
Before you can access your library, you will need to log into your Amazon account by entering your email address and password. Once you log in, you will see your library displayed.
If you are not prompted to log in, click on the two curved arrows at the top of the left column to synchronize, you will see a login screen appear

Step 4. Right click on a book
Then select Download to download the book to your computer so that you can read it offline.
Look at the Library panel on the left of your screen. All the books you download to your computer will be accessible in the Downloads section of this panel

Step 5. Double-click on a downloaded book to open it
If you've never opened the book before, it will open on the first page. If you've already read the book on another device synced to your Amazon account, you'll be taken to the most recent page.
- The first time you open the book, you'll be prompted to go through a quick tutorial. Click on Show me to display it.

Step 6. Use the arrows to scroll through the pages
To move forward one page, press the right arrow on your keyboard or click the > on the right page. To go back one page, press the left arrow on your keyboard or click the < on the left page.
- To quickly flip through the book, drag the slider at the bottom of the screen forward or backward.
- To go to a specific page or section, click on the menu Go to in the toolbar, then make your selection.

Step 7. Click the Expand button to activate full screen mode
It's the four arrows icon at the top center of the app.
- To exit full screen mode, press the keys F11, Ech., Or on X at the bottom center of the page.

Step 8. Click Aa to change the appearance of the book
This button is at the top of the app in classic mode and at the bottom in full screen mode. It allows you to adjust the font size, brightness, position, colors, margins and other details.

Step 9. Annotate the book
You can annotate, highlight or add bookmarks while reading the eBook.
- To highlight a word or set of words, select them, then click one of the colored circles at the top of the pop-up menu that appears.
- To add an annotation, select one or more words then click on Add annotation.
- To add a bookmark, exit full screen mode and then click on the bookmarks icon with a plus (+) at the top right.
- To search for a word, select it, then click Dictionary to display its definition. If you want, you can select Search the web Where Search Wikipedia.

Step 10. Click the sync button
When you have finished reading, click on the curved arrows icon in the toolbar. This will sync the last page you read, along with your notes and bookmarks, with your other Kindle apps and devices.
