To improve the performance of your browser or to delete your personal information on a public computer, you can delete cookies on Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer. Cookies are data stored in your browser that identify the content you are viewing to facilitate, among other things, profiling, the display of certain web pages or the automatic filling of your information.
Steps
Method 1 of 9: Delete cookies from Chrome on a desktop

Step 1. Open Google Chrome

Look for the red, yellow, green and blue sphere icon and click on it to open the Chrome app.

Step 2. Click ⋮
This icon is located at the top right of the Chrome window. Click on it to open a drop-down menu.

Step 3. Select More Tools
This option is at the bottom of the drop-down menu and opens a context menu.

Step 4. Click Clear Browsing Data
In the context menu, this option is at the top and opens your browsing preferences in a new tab.

Step 5. Make sure the Delete cookies box is checked
If you want, you can uncheck the other boxes on this page, but make sure the box Delete cookies and other site data is checked.

Step 6. Select All
In the drop-down menu at the top of the window, you will see different time intervals listed (for example less than an hour). Yes All is not selected by default, click on the drop-down menu, scroll through the options and click on All to ensure that all cookies are deleted and not just the most recent ones.

Step 7. Click Clear Browsing Data
You will find this option at the bottom right of the window. Click on it to delete all cookies from your browser.
Method 2 of 9: Delete cookies from Chrome on mobile

Step 1. Open Google Chrome

On the Home screen or in your mobile device's app drawer, tap the red, yellow, green, and blue sphere icon.

Step 2. Press ⋮
This button is located at the top right of the screen.

Step 3. Select History
From the drop-down menu that opens, select Historical.

Step 4. Tap Clear browsing data
This option is located at the bottom right of the screen.
- If you're using an Android device, tap CLEAR BROWSING DATA at the top of the page.

Step 5. Check the Cookies / site data box
If this box is not already checked, tap it to select it.
- If you are using an Android, check the box Cookies and site data.

Step 6. Choose a time interval
On an Android device, tap the drop-down menu at the top right of the screen

then select All periods.

Step 7. Tap Clear browsing data
This option is at the bottom of the browsing data list.
- If you are using an Android device, tap Erase data at the bottom right of the screen.

Step 8. Select Clear browsing data
This option allows you to delete cookies from Chrome mobile.
- Press on WIPE OFF if you are using an Android device.
Method 3 of 9: Delete cookies from Firefox on a desktop computer

Step 1. Open Firefox
Click or double-click the orange fox icon around a blue globe.

Step 2. Click ☰
This button is located at the top right of the Firefox window. Click on it to open a drop-down menu.

Step 3. Select Library
This option is at the top of the drop-down menu and opens the library menu in the drop-down list.

Step 4. Click History
You'll find this option at the top of the menu.

Step 5. Choose Clear recent history
The option Clear recent history is at the top of the drop-down menu and opens a pop-up window.

Step 6. Expand the Interval to be cleared box
This option is at the top of the pop-up window. Click on it to display a drop-down menu.

Step 7. Click All
You will find this option in the drop-down menu. It will allow you to delete all cookies from your browser.

Step 8. Check the Cookies box
This box is in the middle of the pop-up window.
- Skip this step if the box Cookies is already checked.

Step 9. Click Erase Now
The option Clear now is at the bottom of the pop-up window.
Method 4 of 9: Delete cookies from Firefox on iPhone

Step 1. Open Firefox
On your device's Home screen, tap the orange fox icon around a blue globe.

Step 2. Press ☰
This button is located at the bottom right of the screen and opens a context menu.
You may need to scroll the page up or down slightly to see this icon appear

Step 3. Select Settings
You will find this option in the context menu.

Step 4. Tap Clear My Tracks
Scroll down to the section PRIVATE LIFE then select Erase my tracks.

Step 5. Slide the white switch next to Cookies

The switch will turn blue to indicate that you can now delete cookies from your browser.
Skip this step if the switch is already blue

Step 6. Tap Clear My Tracks
It's the button at the bottom of the screen.

Step 7. Select OK when prompted
Your Firefox mobile browser cookies will be deleted.
Method 5 of 9: Delete cookies from Firefox on Android

Step 1. Open Firefox
On your Home screen or in your device's app drawer, tap the Firefox icon that looks like an orange fox around a blue globe.

Step 2. Press ⋮
This button is located at the top right of the screen. Tap on it to open a drop-down menu.

Step 3. Go to Settings
This option is in the drop-down menu and opens the settings page.

Step 4. Tap Clear My Tracks
The menu Erase my tracks will open.

Step 5. Select Erase Now
This option is at the top of the page and opens a pop-up window.

Step 6. Check the Cookies and active connections box
This box is in the middle of the pop-up window.
- Skip this step if the box Cookies and active connections is already checked.

Step 7. Press DELETE MY TRACKS
This option is at the bottom of the pop-up window. Tap it to immediately delete cookies from Firefox on your Android.
Method 6 of 9: Delete cookies from Microsoft Edge

Step 1. Open Microsoft Edge
Click or double-click the Edge app icon that looks like a white "e" on a blue background or a dark blue "e".

Step 2. Click ⋯
This icon is located at the top right of the browser window. Click on it to open a drop-down menu.

Step 3. Select Settings
The option Settings is at the bottom of the drop-down menu.

Step 4. Click Choose what to erase
This option is under the heading Clear browsing data in the settings menu.

Step 5. Select the Cookies and saved website data check box
It is with this option that you can delete cookies from your browser. If you don't need it, you can uncheck the other boxes in this menu.

Step 6. Select Clear
You will find this option under the different data types. Click on it to delete cookies from your browser.
Method 7 of 9: Delete cookies from Internet Explorer

Step 1. Open Internet Explorer
The Internet Explorer application icon looks like a light blue "e" with a gold band around it. Click or double-click to open it.

Step 2. Click on the settings icon

This icon is located in the upper right corner of the browser window. Click on it to open a drop-down menu.

Step 3. Select Internet Options
The button Internet options is at the bottom of the drop-down menu.

Step 4. Click Remove
You will find this option under the heading Navigation history in the middle of the Internet options window.

Step 5. Check the Cookies and website data box
You can uncheck the other boxes on this page, but Cookies and website data must be checked to be able to delete cookies.

Step 6. Select Remove
This button is at the bottom of the window and allows you to delete Internet Explorer cookies.

Step 7. Click OK to close Internet options
Your browser cookies have just been deleted.
Method 8 of 9: Delete cookies from Safari on a desktop

Step 1. Open Safari
In your Mac's Dock, click or double-click the Safari application icon that looks like a blue compass.

Step 2. Click Safari
The menu Safari is located at the top left of your Mac screen. Click on it to open a drop-down menu.

Step 3. Select Clear History
This option is at the top of the drop-down menu and opens a pop-up window.

Step 4. Click the drop-down menu
The drop-down menu is at the top of the pop-up window and opens a new menu.

Step 5. Choose All
This option is in the drop-down menu and allows Safari to delete all cookies and saved website data.

Step 6. Click Clear History
Cookies, search history and website data will be deleted from Safari.
Method 9 of 9: Delete cookies from Safari on mobile

Step 1. Go to your iPhone settings

On your Home screen, tap the gray cogwheel icon.
This method also applies to iPad and iPod Touch

Step 2. Tap Safari
Scroll down the page and press Safari which should be one third of the settings page.

Step 3. Select Clear History, Site Data
Once again, scroll down the page and select Clear history, site data at the bottom of the screen.

Step 4. Tap Clear History, Site Data
When prompted, tap Clear history, site data to delete cookies and site data from Safari.
- The search history on your iPhone will also be deleted, but if you only want to get rid of cookies, tap Advanced at the end of the page, Site data, Clear all site data then Clear now.
Advice
- After using a public or shared computer, remember to delete your cookies.
- Every 2 or 3 weeks, delete cookies from your browser to improve its performance.
- Some cookies (for example, those that Google Chrome keeps on your computer) cannot be deleted from the settings. They are safe and will not affect the way your browser works.
